This song's in rondeau form. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't influenced by recent international events, but the song is not meant to be topical. I hope you enjoy it. Acupulco Gold BIABRealTracks in song: ~427:Bass, Acoustic, Bluegrass Ev 130 RealTracks in song: 1162:Bass, Acoustic, CelticReel Ev16 110 RealTracks in song: ~433:Banjo, Bluegrass Ev 130 (Soloist) RealTracks in song: ~432:Mandolin, Rhythm Bluegrass Ev 130 RealTracks in song: 1164:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm CelticReel Ev16 110 RealTracks in song: ~426:Banjo, Bluegrass Ev 130 (Rhythm) RealTracks in song: ~430:Fiddle, Rhythm Bluegrass Ev 130 (Shuffles) Mixed in Logic Pro X Acupulco Gold(Refrain) There’s a storm coming in we’re told Better batten down it’s gonna get cold Oh when the sun don’t shine, move on down the line And roll with Acupulco Gold Standing by the levee, the air was thick and heavy I was staring up at the wall When arrows hit the ground, and I saw someone go down I knew that we were in for hell, boys, I knew that we were in for hell (Rpt refrain) You might call it crazy or plain old lazy To lie here and look at the stars But in the situation who will ever get far? (Rpt refrain) Rabbit in the spotlight, everybody uptight Hawks in the air if unseen Honey say your prayers and lie down over there We’re living the dream, babe, we’re living the dream (Rpt refrain)

Matcham,
A rollicking good song with your brand of wry humour. I really enjoyed the arrangement with the banjo & fiddle panned l&r. Nice sounding production.

Well this really moves along. Nice voice and excellent delivery. Maybe you could explain a bit more about the international events; apparently I live a sheltered life, so not sure what I'm missing here. And being from Colorado where such things are legal...well, you know. (Excuse my ignorance, but isn't it spelled "Acapulco"...just asking.) Good work. Keep 'em coming. Bob

Thanks everyone. Bob you're right about the spelling - my bad especially as I care about such things. Re 'international events' I don't mind a bit if the references slide by (ultimately I want the song to stand on its own two legs) but in my mind the Mexican connection - not just in the song's title - helped give purpose during the many hours writing and producing.

Bob Yes, as much as I enjoyed it (a lot!), I wasn't clear on the events referred to either. Very good listen!! Take care. Greg

Thanks Colly, Scott and Greg. For very good reasons I appreciate that we don't want political discussions to intrude on our forum, hence why I have been sheepish about the subtext of the song. It is a reaction to the recent USA elections which I would most certainly deem an 'international event'. The wall, the arrows, the hawks, the woman lying down and the thematic need for escape are all I want to say on the subject.

Hey Matcham,
+1 on all the great comments. I nearly missed this one! Glad I didn't; it's a cracker and in your inimitable style.
Very enjoyable in every respect.

Thank you everyone. I really enjoyed making this. The current project however... I guess sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards. Think I'll listen to some of your tracks for therapy and inspiration.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
