Hi guys (& girls), Just asking for a little help. I've got BIAB 2017 Windows and my audio playback is out of sync with the notation display. The audio is heard quite a bit before the notation is highlighted red. I'm using a Roland Duo-Capture EX interface, set to 44100 HZ. I've been using BIAB for years now (though not as intensively as most of you guys)and I can't remember coming across this before. My display is a Samsung TV monitor and I thought this might be the problem. Changed the resolution several times, but the same result. If anybody has any clues or encountered anything similar, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance and happy holidays to everybody.
first, you should make sure that the audio and MIDI are in sync. ( Find a style that has both audio and MIDI, or using the drums menu choose force drums to MIDI, or find a song demo that has a MIDI melody). Let's assume they are in sync.
In this case, it is likely that the Samsung TV is delaying the video signal. I experienced that the other day, not with BIAB, but just playing a video through an HDMI cable to my Samsung TV - the sync was really bad between the audio and video.
There may be a TV setting to help with this. Or we could experiment with audio delays which can be done with BIAB. First let me know if you still have the problem, and if the audio and MIDI are in sync with each other.
Thanks for the reply. I've tried:- Replacing the Samsung TV with an HP computer monitor. Switching from my Roland external soundcard to the realtek built in soundcard. Tried it with:- Roland ASIO drivers, ASIO4All (routing the Realtek drivers) and even the MME drivers. Exactly the same result. I tried Peter's suggestion of a real + midi style - same result. Loaded up some of the new Artist files - same. I also loaded a blank utility style and just typed a c major scale. There is the count in and the C note at the start (should be heard on beat 1) doesn't play until beat 2. I've spent most of today trying to figure this out, but I'm not really all that techy. Any clues? regards, Steve

I'm assuming that the audio and MIDI are in sync?
You could try options return to factory settings, and choose to return all settings. Before doing this, make sure you are at build 453 from the support section. Then reboot. If the doesn't work, I'd recommend pressing the live help button at the top of this screen, or phoning tech support. They can connect to your PC if needed.
After return-to-factory settings, quit the program right away, and then reboot., Make sure that you are using Dxi/VST for MIDI, and the latency setting is something like 488 in the Options - MIDI Drivers dialog.
I put in the Astral style and the chords,Greensleeves. It plays fine. There's no melody, just bass, drums, guitar, harp.so it's a backing band. The harp is where the strings would be. I didn't put it in it just loaded so. 2017, windows 10. The notation shows for the guitar but not the harp and I don't know what to think about why that is, but I would like to see the harp notation. Thanks, Marty

Marty, RealTracks notation is based on a human listening to the RealTrack and manually notating the midi transcription. All RealTracks have not been transcribed. RealTracks with transcription have an underline beneath the instrument name to designate it contains midi transcription. Is the harp track name underlined?
Thanks very much, but no, the harp track is not underlined, nor the guitar, but that was yesterday and today there's no notation, so I think I had better back off this problem for a while until I better understand what's going on.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
