It seems that installing 2017 has lost my SampleTank authorization. I cannot find my serial number for SampleTank. Any idea how to recover it?

[update]
I had originally used another email address to register on their site. After fixing all that I was able to login and get all of those serial numbers.

Just an FYI, and if you got your ST 2 issue fixed fine - ignore the rest of this:

===
All

After a little homework and a reply from PG tech support - ST2 HI-q's are no longer "supported" (i.e., SampleTank DXi is no longer called up if you pick a ST2 HI-q) and the BAIB "version" of the Sampletank DXi is no longer included in the BIAB install.

If you have a separate version of SampleTank 2 (full or free and I'm not talking about what BIAB installed during its install process) BIAB 2017 should not have messed up your ST2 install, all 2017 did was, if you choose the option, install Sforzando sfz/soundfont VSTi application

You will notice that if you had previously installed ST2 Hi-Q's (I'm not talking about the .sfz Hi-Q's) - all of a sudden when you look at your list of ST2 HI-Q's which are now listed/intermingled with the SForzando sfz's, they say "SampleTank is not installed," but your corresponding SForzando .sfz has no issue.

The IK SampleTank 2 DXi will be listed in the installed DXi's IF YOU separately installed full or free SampleTank 2 itself - and it will work from within BIAB like any DXi, but BIAB will not "automagically" look for/invoke it for ST2 HI-Q's

If you want, to clean up and get rid of those ST2 HI-q's see this thread:

Yes, mine is fixed but I believe what happened was that there was an earlier version of the AuthorizationManager in the Biab2017 install?

I say this because when I got I message saying something about a different version, I allowed the install to go ahead and update it. Then when I tried to used ST, I found out that I was no longer authorized and that my AutorizationManager was out of date.

As you indicated Auth. Mgr. always says when you are trying to install an older version - so now you know.

Also you can DESELECT that, and Amplitude, and other stuff, if they are already installed.

Ah, the wonders of SampleTank. I went in to the standalone SampleTank 2 and was amazed to find everything (including the packs that I purchased) working fine. I've never managed that in BIAB 2016. Perhaps one day I'll figure it out. I also have SampleTank 3 working, but I've not managed to run it in BIAB either. I think it's 64 bit. My new purchase of Jbridge won't install as Norton says there is malware (which it lists) on the update installation, and then deletes the installation files!:-) I switched off Norton's, but no joy! I don't have time or energy for it - I'd rather play with BIAB 2017! So many great Realtracks to peruse.

Interesting, I installed (though not used yet) jbridge 1.74 without incident. Norton Security didn't report any issues. I just renamed the file to use the .7z extension then extracted and ran the setup.

I didn't rename anything. Maybe that's the problem. I'll spend a bit more time on it once 2017 is bedded down.:-0

This morning, I kept getting an anti-virus notification from Trend Micro Internet Security when I tried to launch jbridge (it said auxhost64.exe was trying to make changes). It worked previously and no changes to my jbridge configuration have been made to my knowledge. I excluded it (as having received jbridge from a trusted source - the author) from scanning, but it was weird that it just started happening.

ANY AV is a love-hate thing.

Obviously Trend Micro just added (last definition update?) a code segment or "call" template that's the same or identical to something in that auxhost.

Probably means BOLO (be on the look out for) for other calls and applications (dll's, com's, exe's,..) that TM won't like, giving you warning's. As a user you won't know which particular "bad actors" TM thinks you have until they bite you.

I'd report this one as a false positive to Trend.

Thanks, Larry. I plan to report it; just had to get stuff done, so I took (a fairly safe chance) and excluded it, although it took me several times for it to "take".

It's just frustrating when it works fine one day and survived multiple computer scans and then all of a sudden gets flagged (although, I do realize that malware could have inadvertently been introduced in the interim, but doubt that was it in this case).

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
