All I Wish For You

Pop with a parenting theme.
There`s a denser backing track to this than I`ve tried before - it seemed to work to squish the mix more than I usually do... how does it sound?
Thanks for your listens and comments.

All I Wish For You

so you passed the test for gold
in a child`s eye
but my candle burns down now
and I can`t deny

all I wish for you
all I wish for you

its like a letter from tomorrow
urging you to start
gird your sweet grace with grit
I know you`re whip smart

with your hat turned back
and your lines down pat

there`s a wave of this world
I`ve seen it coming for you
with your sky blue hair
and rebel stare

can`t wait to see you ride it through
ride it through
its all I wish for you

so you passed the test for gold
in a child`s eye
but its the patient effort of your heart
breaks me down each time

with your hat turned back
and your lines down pat
its all I wish for you
all I wish for you

Hello, Robert

Very nice Folk Rock tune like The Byrds.
The modulation at end of A part is so impressive.
I also like this genre of your music.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best Regards.

Hi Robert,

Lyrics are spot on as usual.

I enjoyed...
"with your hat turned back
and your lines down pat"

Loved the solo guitar, great tone. Is that you playing?
The vibe kinda reminded me of an REM song.

Good job,
Jez

Good song! Nice production also, I liked the way you mixed the vocals.

I have the same question as Jez about the lead guitar, sounds real? Nice playing if so.

Excellent song Bob. Excellent vocal, lyric and guitar. I agree has a Byrds feel to it

Hmmmmm....we like the write, the vocal, the arrangement and the mix!

That's a lot of tracks...I over load at around five or six smile

As you said It does tend to the dense side of mixing but on our monitors I felt that it worked well. The piano was cutting through nicely. And the aforementioned guitar solo is a great complement to the song.

We enjoyed it!!

David - Many thanks for your listens and support!

Shigeki - I`m glad you heard the Byrds in there- one of my favourite 60`s bands. This was quite a different style for me: I`m happy you enjoyed!

Jez & Dave - I really appreciate your listening and commenting...oh lord, if only I could play lead like that!!
Just a few regenerations of a fantastic RT.

Scott - Thank you! When I first thought about the arrangement I was hoping for the guitar driven sound of Robin Lane & The Chartbusters, but the Byrds is probably closer to how it ended up.

J&B - Very kind comments -I thank you and will not go entirely back to planet folk song! This was fun as a trial at throwing lots of instruments into the mix...and way more vocal processing than I usually use.

Robert,

I like it! A lot.

The band is well done. Rockin'. And a great compliment to your lyric, I think. Gave me a sense of early Genesis. Poetic lyric to a rock musicscape. Very cool.

The vocal sounds great. For this style, I think it should be "in the mix" a little more (less "up front"). Perhaps down 1.5 dB (but that is objective, of course).

This is terrific! I hope you will do more like this...

Glad you liked this Floyd... not sure if there`s more along these lines in my future, but all the great BiaB styles make it tempting to try a different take on some of my older folk tunes.
Thanks for the vocal levels tip.. will give your suggestion a listen.

Bob,
Thanks! I have to credit your nice clear recent post on beginning mixing tips... this would be the first time I`ve paid any attention to panning
and it really helped.

Robert, it sounds great, very good use of all these backing tracks, the piano and solo guitar especially cut thru and sounded good. Like the lyrics, youth's rite of passage?
Whatever the message, it is delivered very well.
Enjoyed.
