I have heard this in certain RealTracks. It sounds like a breath or similar sound got recorded along with the guitar. I am able to hear it near the 2nd beat in an A chord. I can regenerate and it moves around to a different bar which seems to indicate there is a riff that has this in it! I tried a C chord though several regenerations and did not hear it.

John,

Next time it happens, freeze your MGU/SGU file and send it across to support@pgmusic.com. Point out which bar or bars they need to listen to to hear the inconsistency.

In the meantime, I'll have a listen to the above RT and see if I can get it to do that for me, too.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks Noel. Just create a new song. Add that RealTrack and solo it. Type in an A chord. Generate and you will hear it.

These are typical sounds on a real recording. You don't hear them when recording MIDI, because that's not an audio recording.

Most of the sounds reported to us are things like string noise, stings buzzing, or the musician breathing, maybe tapping their foot. All considered normal.

When there are large transposes, or large tempo stretches, artifacts can be introduced, which might sound like that too.

I understand fret noise and buzzing strings but breathing on a guitar track seems a bit off! It is noticeable enough that when I use this RT I have to generate again to get rid of this riff unless it will be buried in several other tracks.

I noticed it too. Honestly, it doesn't bother me. It really depends on context. If the arrangement is very sparse and you want a very "clean" sound, then I can understand that it can get in the way. But overall, I find all the imperfections of RTs not only acceptable, but desirable. In fact, I wouldn't want Real Tracks without small imperfections. That's what makes them "Real". Some buzz, some fret noise, some breathing etc. Absolutely love that. Not too much of course, and what is "too much" may depend on personal taste and context, but to me it's an essential part of RTs.

Peter,

Do you have to pay them an additional "non-breathing charge" if they hold their breath? I know I get more bread for gigs at which I have to hold my breath.

Just kidding of course . . . Merry Christmas all!

Yeah, I generally agree about the slight imperfections but this one gets repeated in a song and about the 3rd time you hear the breathing over the same riff it starts to sound fake rather than real.

But it sounds like PG is ok with it so I'll just work around it and remove that riff when it occurs in the song.

J3 you have certainly come a long way. We learn to deal with the imperfections and idiosyncrasies of BIAB to enjoy its real unique capability. But tell me, you didn't drink the koolaid did you? grin

That looks like it but I'd have to hear it to be sure. Every time I use it it appears somewhere in the song if I am using an A chord.

Just listened and YES...12 seconds in is where the breath occurs! Could that be fixed in the wma file and then replace the stock one?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
