Happy New Year all

TWO different sales at TWO (2) DIFFERENT sites and I AM NOT FRONTING for or pushing these, just passing on two good deals.

1. First up Guitar Pro 6 XL for $34.50 (probably ends today tomorrow - I DO NOT KNOW!)

(Pipeline is a user of it - I'm just playing with it for grins right now

https://www.jrrshop.com/arobas-guitar-pro-6-xl

2. Second is Air Music Xpand2! for $1 (not typo ONE dollar - actually one Pound but comes to ~$1.03)

Before I give link I did buy it BECAUSE it was only $1 AND I had already gone "to the dark side" with software iLok/Pace for to use UVI stuff this past summer

SO YOU MUST HAVE or be willing to install software iLok to use this plugin synth!

Keep in mind, this requires ILOK. Not for the timid! crazy But if you are determined to go to the dark side of "program protection services", then if you have a Win 10 machine you will be needing this...

Hi all,
...when launching PLAY and other iLok-based software, you may get this message:

”Software Component Unavailable
A background component required for iLok License Manager seems to be unavailable. If rebooting does not fix this issue, please visit iLok.com and download and run the latest License Support installer."

Solution:

To check for this problem go to Administrative Tools/Services/ and see if "Pace License Services" status is "running" and, if not, start it up. That's it.

In Services select "Start delayed"

Thanks Larry,

Xpand 2 is a good fun plugin with lots of sounds, can't beat the price.

However putting it in a midi track in biab such as bass or paino channels 2 and 3 works great, I can even select four sounds in the xpand interface for those channels, but I can't figure out yet how to get guitar and strings channels 7 and 6 to load a sound in xpand, and those two channels definitely have midi on them in the style I am using.

Wonder if you have any tips there for me to get it to work in those channels.
Thanks

I haven't even tried using it in BIAB, only sampled some of the sounds for grins.

But as a thought you did set the channels in Xpand!2's Parts 3 and 4 to channels 7 and 6 respectively?

I'm in the middle of USB offline backups for all my drives right now (six 2Tb's internals so... might be a while before I can play with it).

PS - Hope you got the FREE one direct from Air that Dan linked to and didn't a $1 on the one I linked to.

Ah I missed that, that will teach me to go a bit further down a thread, just spotted Dan's post when I had already bought and installed it.

Ah well price of a newspaper can't grumble.
Will have a look at xxpand again as regards channels 6 and 7.

Thanks

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
