Inspired by a post here, I went back to some of my songs that I had shelved and
became my own co-writer to a song that I thought needed stronger verses but
couldn't complete before. Thanks for listening.

Someone Who Remembers When
© 2016 Kenny Leverett

I was thinking about a summer
Doesn’t seem that long ago
The trip we made to Memphis
One of the best times that I’ve known

Now there’s snow on the ground
In this sleepy little town
With the street lights comin’ on
Girl it’s been so long

So if you ever get lonesome
And just need someone who remembers when
Well there’s a lot of good history between us
We could start it up again
If you need someone who remembers when

Here I’m looking forward to
The first signs of spring
The chance of renewal
And all the hope it brings

So if you ever get lonesome
And just need someone who remembers when
Well there’s a lot of good history between us
We could start it up again
If you need someone who remembers when

Kenny,

This is excellent - you've got that JD Souther vibe going on... Loved it.

Just BEAUTIFUL Kenny!!! I'm so glad you're hanging out again. This is a little different than your other stuff but just as good. Your vocal has never sounded better. What is your signal chain on recording/mixing? Fiddle solo is perfect. I LOVE THIS!! Take care. Greg

Kenny,

Whatever it was that sparked you to go back to this, it was lucky for us...

MAN! this is GOOD!!! A beautiful song.

Perfect tracks for it. LOVE your vocal on this! Nice harmonies. Great mix.

One of your best! (among so many good ones). On my 3rd listen...

Awesome melody.

Kenny, There is something about your songs that make them very comfortable to listen to. No doubt it has something to do with your melody choices and the tone of your voice. Good mix, good lyrics and a great vocal put this one way up there on the listenability scale. Tom

We were discussing how accessible your songs are and Tom articulated it so well.

Janice immediately noted the JDS hints - a good thing in our book. We love the lyric. The renewal of spring is a theme we often think of living in the woods as we do. Your vocal is so poignant while retaining the, for us, important sense of soul. And as mentioned the mix is nailed.

Great work.

Thanks Bob,
I never thought of JD but he was a big influence on me, Black Roses, White Rhythm And Blues Faithless Love were two of my favorites, so I am humbled to be mentioned
as having a similar vibe. Of course it also makes me think of Linda Ronstadt - Silver Blue and other great ones, thanks!

Happy New Year!

Thanks Greg!
OK, I'll try. I switched to recording on a Macbook Air this (past) year into Logic Pro.
I have a modestly priced condenser mic, xlr - I think, Focusrite Scarlett interface,
I use Nectar 2 - Folk and Sons - cut back on the preset reverb setting on just about
all my lead vocals, has EQ and compressor presets that are good. That's about it,
I use the Logic Pro built-ins for anything else, but usually am satisfied with Nectar
preset.

Thanks Charlie! I spent most of the year doing Pop or Rock songs, but my heart
always goes back to this style.

Kenny,

Very warm and enjoyable. Your revision on the original ( the title alone would be worth going back to) has me hitting replay.
Very nice upfront vocals and a fine production all round.

Thanks!

I read the post about how people were keeping and organizing
their songs and started looking back at some of mine.
I could certainly use better organization, I've probably
lost more than a few.

Happy New Year!
