On 31 Dec 2016 I upgraded from BIAB 2016 online. The download page stated that after downloading the BIAB 2017 exe file I could use update search from within BIAB 2017 to install the remainder of the program. I jumped ahead first by installing the loops file before doing the upadate procedure. I wasn't sure if I had received the free updates because I didn't recall exactly how many styles I received with the 2016 package; ~801 or 850 but I was seeing ~ 851 after the initial install. After downloading all of the files, I believe I went back and clicked on only the disc files 1-3. In the end I had another 20 or so styles show up on the list in BIAB for a total of 870 now, along with the error message in the subject line that was also followed by; Jazz, brushes, sticks.

In addition to the online download, I also ordered a copy of the 2017 disc set. Should I wait until I receive the disc set and do a complete reinstall and if so how do I approach the install to make sure my bonus packs from 2016 and 2017 are installed considering I will have disc sets from both 2016 and 2017?

Both BIAB and Real Band appear to be working normally otherwise except for the yellow box message regarding the above in BIAB.

Hi. I recommend you post this in the BIAB Product forum, about seven below this one. It will get much better attention there.

If you want to double-check your download files, log into your sales account. The files should be there under your registrations.

You can manually download and install the files from here. Many people choose to do this rather than use the installer within BIAB.

You could install from the discs, though it should not be necessary if you have already installed from the download. But, yes you can install the from the discs into the same folder just to be sure, and you don't need to uninstall or remove anything first. In general you should install 2017 into the same folder that you already have 2016 installed in. Then, install the latest 2017 update patch that is available at the time.

If you load in a style from the StylePicker that is marked N/A, that means either you don't have the style or you don't have some of the RealTracks / Drums used in the style. To avoid loading in styles like that you can choose in the StylePicker to not show N/A styles, which I believe is the default. If you have the Pro package, there will be lots of N/A styles, because the StylePicker knows about all available styles and you will only have a portion of those.

If you want to exchange for a version like the UltraPlusPAK or EverythingPAK with tons more content, please contact us soon as the special has been extended and those are fantastic deals.

To diagnose the specific message you referred to, we would need to know the exact message. If it goes away to quickly to copy down, you can look in the message log: Help | utilities | display flash message log.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
