Hi,
This problem started this way:
I found a bug in BIAB where if I turn off the printing of notes and do a print preview in lead sheet format and save that print preview to bmp then later come in to do a print preview but with the notes turned on and BIAB consistently aborts. Okay so I do the right thing and send off the dump report to support.
So now to the current problem:
So rather than wait I then decided to see if I can just reinstall BIAB. I reinstalled 2016 ultrapack such that it runs from the hard drive. Now what is happening is when I click on a BIAB song file windows does not know to run BIAB. So windows comes up with the popup asking for what program to run. So I click the browse and this window can not find the F drive letter where the external BIAB drive is located with the BIAB executable.
I am wondering if anyone has had this problem. For now will turn off the machine and turn it back on to see if that helps.

John,
Did you change the location the desktop shortcut points to? You need to right click on the shortcut, select properties and edit the location. You most likely need to change it from C:\BB to F:\BB.
or
You can browse to the external hard drive, verify you've found the BiaB shortcut, right click on the hard drive shortcut to send the shortcut to the desktop then delete the incorrect existing desktop shortcut.

Launch BIAB as administrator, then make the "associate files" setting from within BIAB. That should tell Windows where to pull BIAB from and it should work.
You can then double click on the files from Windows Explorer to launch it into BIAB.

Hi Jim, Thanks for your suggestion. I actually never run BIAB from the BIAB shortcut icon. I don't even have one. Sometimes I will navigate directly to BIAB to run it from there (only when I have problems like this). Instead I regularly run the biab song files from three places and this process uses windows to know to call the BIAB exe file. 1/ directly from the windows folder (win 7 and win 10). 2/ from Microsoft access I call BIAB files. MS-access is a database program that I can use to search song names etc. I just click on some button or some field and it does the call to the BIAB song file that is in the database for this database song record. I do this for my own practice. 3/ I also run BIAB files now from a website which is a mysql Database website. I run this website software off line using something called xampp so it can find the BIAB song files on my C-drive. I started doing this because of a website I set up for Jazz Karaoke Jamming where I have the songs listed for the jam on the website. I ship the jam schedule pages up to a low cost website to avoid having to run a VSP (virtual private server) for my website software. During the actual jam session I can go into the database on my notebook computer and run the BIAB song file. Hi John, thanks for your help. You nailed it (the problem is solved). I had to do a google search on how to run an .exe file as administrator (something I have done but rarely). I then had to do a google search (make the "associate files" setting from within Band In A Box) to find a BIAB forum thread that had the final info for getting around BIAB. http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=66158It turns out that the reinstall indeed solved the original problem. I can now print preview the leadsheets with the notes, staff lines and chords showing. I hope this isn't a regular thing I have to do every time I save a bmp file of a lead sheet without the notes showing then I want to come back to viewing the sheet with the notes showing. Hopefully the PG-music programmers can resolve this problem soon. I am so glad they have that popup that occurs when BIAB aborts which allows me to send the dump to them. I guess they are glad too :-) Thanks again, you guys are great. John

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
