I took a few minutes to look at the User List (see the Users pull-down in the blue bar, above) for all the forums on this site. Here are a few observations:
Background: PG Music had another forum before this one, using different software, and the old post counts for some of us could not be migrated to this software, so our counts started over at zero. The current forum dates back to the summer of 2000.
There are 1019 full pages of users as of this writing, plus three more, for a total of 25,478 registered users. This is impressive.
The number of posts for each of these users varies, of course, from 0 to five digits. It's those with zero posts that made me wonder, why would someone register and yet make no posts? You don't need to register to read the posts. Yet fully 515 pages (about 12,875 registered users) made no posts! That's slightly over 50% of all registered users.
About those who do not register at all, each time I've checked it appears there are about three guests online for each one registered user online.
Another 4,200 registered users made only ONE post, ever. Note: this does not include the first-post spammers who are soon blown away and don't even show up here.
Registered users are not removed. For example, there are 13 pages (325 users) who have made no posts since the year 2000. We also have too many lost friends who are no longer with us, not by choice.
Regardless of what the numbers may or may not show, this is an amazing forum with friendly, helpful and knowledgeable users. It's an honor to spend part of each day here.

Matt, Thanks for those helpful stats. Yes, lots of people register for the forum, and make no posts. In a spot check, they are mostly valid users.
Another metic showing the rising popularity if the forum is posts per day. Those are now at 200 per day, and it was 130 six months ago. That's a rate of 200x365 = 73,000 posts per year....
Any way you look at this, it's an amazing set of numbers and you should be very proud. Yes, I've noticed an uptick in posts per day, even though I only frequent about five of the many subforums. Great!

I "lurked" on the Forums (including the "old" one) for quite some time before daring to make a post. It's a bit like opening up the "Classic" BIAB screen; you know it's useful, you figure that sooner or later it will be helpful, but upfront it's quite intimidating.
Many of the Forum regulars are "seasoned" veterans, not only of BIAB but of music in general. The Forums provide an invaluable service for people who want to know more about the PGMusic products. Even if half of the Forum members never make a post, I would guess that a great many of them are grateful (as I am), that those who "know", don't mind sharing their knowledge.
You probably see a surge immediately after a new release too, as people either report issues or sing praises of the new version.
I enjoy most the discussions NOT about the product, thus I stay mainly in the off topic area. War stories, philosophical discussions (the "Why do you play" type of threads are great as people RESPECTFULLY discuss the yea and nay of it) interest me most. The occasional noob that comes in with the "I am better than all of you, and here's why" attitude thankfully burn out quickly. Some of the people I have had discussions with here have become people that I look to for in out and direction often. But the narcissistic types I tend to avoid. (I somehow find myself dating those or playing in bands with them. Those "everybody else's fault but mine type". I don't need to talk to them here!)
I enjoy the long threads that hit 7 and 8 pages because that is deep discussion and the intellectual side of people comes out.
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

I can so relate because that's me. I followed the forum for eight months before offering a comment. In that time, I learned a lot about BIAB/RB without having to pop in and ask for clarification or additional steps as the posts were clear and complete.
My main reason for the forum at that time was in the User Showcase. There, not only did I hear better music than what the radio played, was a body of work filled with insight into the inspiration to the write, techniques and my goal was to analyze each song to deconstruct it, reverse engineer it - all to determine the secret to a hit song. The User Showcase is where I learned to use the Audio Chord Wizard. Knowing the Key signature and tempo in advance makes for a wonderful ACW tutorial where I can experiment knowing the correct answer in advance.
Then one day I heard 'the song'.... It was so close and but for a few tweaks here and there, I knew it could really make it to the airwaves. I wasn't a frequent visitor to the forum, bud did check in at a fairly regular basis. Each trip, I found myself drifting back for another listen to that song. Did it for several months until one morning I bit. LOL, I actually composed a critique off line detailing tweaks and even offered reference songs to the artist. I felt I was taking a huge risk at being flamed but felt the song was worth the risk. There was not then, nor is there now, many long, detailed song critiques such as I was attempting.
The takeaway was the reply came, a short answer of thanks for your kind review but I like my song as it is.... but there were no flames and so the noob that came in with the "I am better than all of you, and here's why" attitude thankfully did not burn out quickly and fade away but became accepted into the fold in spite of myself.
I was the opposite. I had just purchased the BIAB v8 ProPak (the basic version, which didn't last long and as soon v9 came out, I upgraded to then the MegaPak as the version with all the styles), installed it, and something didn't work right (it wasn't the software, it was something with my computer). So I registered on the forum, posted my first question immediately after joining the forum, and shortly received the answer to my problem (I can't remember, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Mac that provided the answer). Then shortly after that, someone posted a question about something that I had just done with BIAB, so I responded with the answer, which worked for that person, and I've been trying to help folks out every day, because I have been helped every time I've been stumped about something.
And that was version 8, not version 2008.

Jacko, What a kind offer. We'll be happy to create that forum. Give us a few days, and we will make it.
this Forum should focus mainly on Band-in-a-Box. Czech Forum probably will not have hundreds of users at once, so you'd rather cover all other products PG Music Inc. So comprehensively

Does this mean we will lose Jacko in the English speaking section of the forum? I hope not!
Certainly not! Here it is much more colorful and inspiring! But Czech users mostly do not speak English and for them it is a big handicap when BIAB does not yet include Czech user interface.

And in an ironic twist, I am 100% Slovenian and I don't speak more than a few words of Slovenian, the few words I learned as I grew up (mainly Slivovitz, and pivo), but we were told "You are American. You were born here in the USA. You speak English." I am 2nd generation American. My parents were born here but my grandparents were from Ljubljana. They were 3 months apart in age and were born within a 2 block area of each other!!

Interesting Eddie and I was in the same situation. My grandparents on my father's side came from Italy and forbid Italian to be spoken. I told his family that you are Americans and Italians, thus the kids and grand kids lost out on a lot of Italian traditions and language. But they did keep pass down the food preparation. I love good Italian food.

You are amazing and thank you for those comments! Unfortunately, or fortunately, I still live in Central Europe (where they drank plum-brandy= SLIVOVICE and beer=PIVO PLZEN). And at my age of 63 I had about TRUMP into the ranks of Americans will not accept. And so I'm grateful for the opportunity to also in this way learn English with the "native" Americans and and additionally musicians.

Thank you Karel for hosting this forum. As a child, and as a Canadian, my introduction to Czech/Slovakia was through their great hockey teams. Over the years I've learned about the great culture and someday I especially want to visit Prague. Hopefully through this forum, we can learn more, and thank you for facilitating that.

I visited Prague a few years ago.
Coming from a location where it never snows, it was sensational to visit "Old Town Prague" in the wintertime. A most memorable experience, and one of the most beautiful destinations I've ever been to.
Peter, you just have to go there.

Hello My English is still in the stage of study. A discussion like this used for this purpose
In the Czech Republic it is not just Prague. Even here in Moravia is a beautiful country and the people. When someone has a platoon in Europe and the Czech Republic particularly I like to meet with you personally.

Thank you for this forum - all my problems I solved that I got the right information to solve them. Sometimes I read here just to broaden the horizon of knowledge. This post is the first in my not very good English, which successfully enhances Google translator. Some years back I was looking into visiting Ljubljana, and I bought a travel book. Right on the cover was a beautiful picture of the downtown square. In Cleveland, on the lower east side where the Slovenian community was/is, is a restaurant called Sterle's that is Slovenian themed. In the entry way there is a large mural of that EXACT picture, down to every detail. My book calls Ljubljana "The land of waterfalls", and I would really love to visit before I die. I once connected via internet with a guy from the same area who shares my last name (VERY common Slovenian name) and is a professor at Prague University or whatever is the proper name for it, and according to him I would need to know my ancestor's location down as close to about a 2 block area to find anything even close to roots. And given that I am approaching 66, nobody who knows anything is still alive.

what's your surname. Unfortunately, Czech Republic bordering the Slovak Republic, but it is a different state than Slovenia. Slovisko is more to the south in former Yugoslavia. But Prague is the capital city and there are frequent. Although we do not have the waterfalls, but good musicians on every corner :-)

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
