Still using BIAB 2012 and thinking about upgrading to '17, but would like some opinions as to its worth... mostly use Jazz RT - guitar/bass/drums....

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.

It's worth it for everything.

The new User Interface is fantastic.

Excellent new RealTracks, stacks of new features.

Go on, get it. You know you want to smile

If my Band-in-a-Box and RealBand programs were still at 2012 and I had the opportunity to update to 2017 I'd do it. Why?

1. Updated élastique Pro time stretching and pitch transposition engine.
2. Make and use UserTracks.
3. Loop integration.
4. Import and export Acidized loops and wav files.
5. Many fixes to make the programs more stable.

Specifically, are the Real Tracks upgrades/choices (since '12)for Jazz on '17 truly 'worth' spending the $150? That is really all I care about.

Thanks.

Comparing your version to the new, Real Tracks are so much better and useful that's not even funny, specially the Jazz-related ones. In all, it's not a matter if you can afford the new, but how you can afford not to!

Definately!
Jazz Real Tracks added since 2012:
+ Funky Jazz - Acid Jazz Soul Jazz (ala George Benson, Joe Sample, Jamiroquai etc)
+ Horns - Big Band Style Crooner Horn (they sound awedome)
+ Fusion Jazz - Rock Jazz - Latin Jazz
+ Gypsy Jazz - Sinti Jazz (a la Django Reinhardt. Soooo gorgeous!)
+ Mixed Swing / Latin
+ Piano accompaniment only

Those are the ones that come to my mind by heart right now. I `m sure there are many more new ones.

Go for it, worth every cent!

Sandra

Heh, I was on a machine Wednesday night that is running 2011.
/It's not my machine

First thing I'm doing when I sit in front of that machine again is to get him to get a 2017 license on that machine.

It recorded 8 audio tracks at a time, which was all I needed to do that night, but it sure was awkward after using recent versions.
It was the first night in our new studio to have fun and the machine is a nice new machine, but he's running 2011 from a secondary drive that came out of the last machine.
Ugh

Yeah, it'll be worth it to upgrade. I was where you are at version-wise (roughly) on Wednesday night. I'm not going back there again, if at all possible.

Make your sound your own!
.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

What Sandra said!

Even with just the Pro Version (@ $79), you get 4.5 times more RT's than you have now (from 45 in your 2012 version to 200+ in 2017 Pro pak)

http://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.pro.htm

plus you obviously get the NEW BIAB/RB with new GUI and some other things [to get you going and hold you over until the next "cheaper upgrade to 2018" holiday season].

OK, before folks start hyperventilating I will insert the standard two blurbs:

1. ASSUMING THERE EVEN IS A 2018 VERSION

and

2. ASSUMING you are ARE NOT needing to upgrade the more expensive AUDIOPHILE version (that's an all or nothing upgrade - no partial's)

Good Luck
Larry

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
