Excellent song. Very much like early country rock in the 70's in the storyline, choice of instruments and presentation.
Enjoyed my listen.
Charlie Charlie, Yes, its certainly not the kind of country that`s popular now. I`m happy you enjoyed! Robert Robert,
We agree with all being said here. Very cool production with very nice lyrics!
Rob & Anne-Marie Rob & Anne-Marie, Thank you for that - I`m especially glad you liked the production. Robert

Hello, Robert
Very catchy! As Joanne and Noel said, the vocal-only start really appealed to me, too. The melody is very engaging. I don't know why this tune reminds me of "I've Been Working on the Railroad", though your song is quite different from it. Very enjoyable listen.
Best regards.

Very nice! Other than "vapor trail" and "fly" and the fine write has somewhat of a Victorian feel. Your vocal is very much showcased in this tune and that is good...very good. As fj mentioned a wee bit more 'verb on it would spread the soundstage love We agree with Charlie regarding the early country rock feel. Back to the formative years of the sub-genre... a la Stone Poneys, etc. One to be pleased with for sure!! J&B

I `ve now added a touch of reverb to the vocal and it does seem fuller sounding. I like the early country rock of bands like Poco & the Byrds - though this was written after I started listening to more recent Nashville sounds. Robert

Hi Robert,
We liked this a lot. A nice arrangement and we really liked the last verse:
life life so hard and so frail I`ve been the hammer and I`ve been the nail you broke my wheels then gave me a sail to find my way back home
Just a couple of things caught our attention:
1. We think the bass line could be brought quite a bit more forward in the mix 2. bringing the banjo a little more forward on the left channel would balance the mix a wee bit better.
Of course, those are just our thoughts. Everyone has a slightly different ake on all that.
We enjoyed our listen a lot. Thanks for the entertainment!
Alan & Di

Alan & Di,
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment - I`m glad you liked the song. Its very useful to have folks with keen ears give feedback. I`m almost always quite "done" with a song by the time I get to mix balancing and invariably need to go back and tweek after posting & taking a break. I agree that the bass should come up.Not sure about the banjo- maybe it is a little lost when the whole band is playing. Cheers,
Robert

Robert, another very good one from you! As a musician I always catch myself trying to predict where the chords and melody are going in a song and can usually do that but you kept me from doing so here (which I like). Very interesting and good use of cross genre instrumentation. Thanks, Torrey

Excellent, every part of it.
The harmonica slotted in so perfectly.
In particular, the mix was clean and powerful at the same time. Delivered through a strong vocal. No complaints, that's for sure.

Robert, That was a very effective vocal intro using the chorus. Nicely put together arrangement. Your voice sounds really good here. I enjoyed the lyrics. Tom

Tom Tom, I appreciate your listen and comments. I found starting with the verse took some oomph out of the song- glad you liked the chorus intro. Robert

Very nice, Rober. Reminded me a little bit of America, with more edge. I like the arrangement. Like the a capella beginning.
Good job.

Robert,
What a great intro! Very Orbison! And a cool transition to the song itself. Definitely another winner!

Rob, Funny you should mention Roy Orbison - I was looking in vain for that extra octave today! Thanks for listening and liking this again.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
