The lyrics for this one started when I had a severe bout of nostalgia, so yes, it's autobiographical but with additions to suit! I set myself a challenge this time with the music - to avoid the sounds, instrumentation and arrangement methods I usually go to, and deliberately introduce unusual ones to challenge me. I think it worked, but I'll let you be the judge! BIAB sources: Style: _POPCAL2.STY Pop Calypso BPM changed from 100 to 108. Excellent. Love this. Everything is spot on and I really enjoyed the video that you made to go along with the song. Very interesting arrangement and production. You aced your self challenge - Outstanding song and very professionally done. One of my favorites so far this year. I'll be back for more listens..

Whoa...that is a stunning production.
The lyric so eloquently reflects the thoughts so many have...even if they are transient. It's hard to know where to start with the accolades. The arrangement including the video keep you glued to the song. The five plus minutes seemed to fly by.
Your vocal and effects are perfect for the tune.
And the audio production? Pro sounding all the way on our monitors. Every track has it's place and works with the others but steps on none.
And the video? Very supportive of the theme and groove.
As Charlie said one of the best of the year!

John,
Your song crosses genres effortlessly and is just superbly produced. The video is mesmerising - likes scenes from a dystopian movie. Very, very well done!

Hey John,
I liked this. All the tracks sit very well with each other. The production/mix is excellent, as is your vocal. A good write!
Nice Job!

WOW!!! John! This is awesome! I have the attention span of a gnat and this was so totally engaging both musically and visually from start to finish. The video is fabulous and so is the song, the arrangement and the production. Such cool creative variations in the arrangement and great visuals in the video. I think you've truly outdone yourself with this one and that's saying a lot.

Congratulations John on an outstanding production!! Everything about this is top drawer. Not many songs make you want to listen more than twice but this one certainly hits my nostalgic spot. Supporting video is great too.

John,
I'm always immediately interested when you're posting a new song. That's because you never disappoint, and never take the easy way out ;-) This one is no exception, very well-crafted song with a very fine choice of instruments. Very well sung too. And now the fourth 'very': Very pro video all the way!

John, Wow, That was spectacular. A fantastic sound and the video is among the best ever posted here. This is certainly up there with the best of your projects and I have liked them all. There is nothing here that is less than professional quality. I can surely relate to the theme. Bravo!!! Tom

John,
We were stunned when we listened and watched. The production of this reminded us of a Michael Jackson project. Wow ... everything is so damned good. If this isn't top-notch, professional grade, commercial. we don't have a clue what is.
The video was as compelling as the song ... the perfect prosody of video and audio.
To be redundant ... stunning, powerful and thoroughly awesome!

What a powerful production.
Great driving beat, and a perfect choice of styles.
This is absolutely extraordinary for start to finish.
And all accompanied by an outstanding video.
Great! Really great!

WOW.
I guess that has already been said. Many times over. And deservingly so. This is breathtakingly good - in all regards, John. The video is amazing - watching in HD is a joy. The sound is Spectacular!!!
The song, arrangement, production, mix... all top-notch-pro-quality...this has all been said, as well... The clarity is STUNNING. So many nice little touches - easily missed until the 10th listen - perfectly placed. I seldom use the word "brilliant". This qualifies...
Brilliant.

J&B And, to add to that, let me quote Floyd "WOW". I could not overstate how amazing this is!!! How did you put such an elaborate video together? The mix/production are totally pro. I have never heard better production (if it exists) on the forum. STELLAR!!! Taske care. Greg

Many thanks everyone for your very kind comments. I feel quite overwhelmed by the responses.
The different approach I took to the music this time around made quite a difference, and will influence how I go about things in future. Never too old to learn - so true.

Whoa...that is a stunning production. (repeated from J&B)
love the guitars and the video is awesome! I mean this as a compliment, it reminded me of Duran Duran in places (and I don't mean like an 80s style gone stale) it sounds fresh
very cool song
