Hello Beagle,

Yes it should work...

First, make sure that when you installed your new RealTracks, you selected E:\bb for your Band-in-a-Box folder. You could run one of the installs again and you should find that it automatically chooses the E:\bb folder for your "Band-in-a-Box folder". You could also look in your E:\bb folder and see that you have lots of files with mid-2009 dates.

Next, make sure that you have selected E:\bb as your Band-in-a-Box folder in RealBand (Opt. | Preferences | Song Generation | Paths for BBW...).

It should work now. If not, then download and install the RealTracks 1-66 update patch from here:
http://www.pgmusic.com/support_windows_realdrums.htm#RealTracks01-66

If it *still* doesn't work, then could you open the RealTracks Picker window in Band-in-a-Box, select the "Show styles that are N/A" checkbox, sort the instruments by "#", and let us know what the highest number listed is. And in RealBand - what is the higher number listed there (to open the "RealTracks Picker" in RealBand, right-click on a track and click on "Select and Generate RealTracks".)

Andrew, thank you for your help. I am beginning to believe that I must have purchased the wrong thing and did not get any new instruments with this purchase.

first of all, tho, none of the files in my e:\bb\RealTracks folders have mid-2009 dates - the latest ones are November 2008.

I have checked the paths for realband and BIAB again, those are correct in both programs.

I have downloaded the realtracks 1-66 update patch and installed it.

I have checked the "show styles that are N/A

I have sorted the instruments in the list. BOTH BIAB and RB have the same list. the #'s are 361-436 all inclusive.

Kent from support sent me an email and told me to do the following:
Quote:

Sometimes, new add-ons won't show up until the Style List has been re-built... Please click your Style button in Band-in-a-Box then hit the Re-Build button.

I have done that.

Quote:

Once this is done, please go to Opt - What Add-ons Do I Have? This window will tell you exactly what you've installed. Which RealTracks and RealDrums sets are listed as installed?

here is the list of what is installed:
RealTracks sets in E:\bb\RealTracks\ : 1- RealTracks 1, 2- Country Ballad, 3- Swingin’ Country, 4- Modern Country, 5- Rockin’ Guitar, 6- All Metal!, 7- Jazz Bass & Rock Sax, 8- Country Folk, 9- Country Electric Guitar, 10- All Blues (Shuffle), 11- All Bluegrass (Rhythm), 12- All Bluegrass (Solos), 20- Dual Rock Guitars, 21- Clean Strat Rock, 22- Funk & Pop Bass, 23- Pop Acoustic Guitar, 24- Pop Swing 8ths Guitar, 25- Pop Swing 8ths Bass 1, 26- Pop Swing 8ths Bass 2, 27- "Dreamy" Pop Guitar, 30- Blues (Slow Swing), 31- Blues (Slow Even 8ths), 32- Blues (Fast Even 8ths)
RealDrums sets in E:\bb\Drums\ : 1- Rock and Jazz, 2- Waltzes, Country, and More, 3- Fusion, Hip-Hop, and More, 4- Pop, Rock, and More, 5- Latin, 6- Nashville Classic, 7- Nashville Swing, 8- Lite Pop, 9- Ethnic and Country, 10- Bossa and Jazz, 11- About Time, 12- Salsa Clasica, 13- Salsa Moderna, 14- Techno 1: Progressive, 15- Techno 2: Party, 16- Urban Pop, 17- Terry Clarke Modern Jazz, 18- Terry Clarke Classic Jazz & Bossa, 19- Terry Clarke Trading Fours, 20- LA Pop Jazz

none of this has changed my list. That is why I am thinking now that I may have purchased the wrong set of realtracks. I have the 2008.5 "SuperPak" - the SuperPak is no longer an option in 2009.5, but I do specifically remember that is what I purchased and I had listed it in my signature. I am starting to believe now that the SuperPak already had the 20-27 and 30-32 Real Tracks sets included with it and that is why I cannot see any new tracks in my list.

I would like for someone at PG Music to confirm that the 2008 SuperPak did indeed come with those real tracks, and if so, I would like to talk to someone in customer service about refunding my money, or giving me other real packs in exchange.

I will also be sending this same information to Kent via email and will show him this thread.

thanks for everyone's help - with PG Music's confirmation, I believe this snafu was my fault.

I see - yes with your upgrade last year + previous SuperPK you would have had most of those - I suggest that you exchange that for Volume 2, which are the new RealTracks.

Call PGMusic Sales, they'll likely be able to straighten it out and make you a happy camper, as they should have records of what you've bought.

They good folks up there, man. Not like other firms.

Ok Kent at tech support confirmed that the above situation is not the case. Superpak came with real tracks 1-12 and the rock #1 real pack set comes with 4, 5, 6, 10, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, 32 (so the only overlap I would have had from purchasing superpak 2008 and rock #1 real pack would be 4-6 & 10). Also, I can SEE there are folders in the e:\bb\realtracks folder with names which I cannot access from the Real Tracks picker window. (the StoneZ one referenced above being one of them).

in BIAB 2008 there is no option to show real tracks that aren't available for a particular tempo. so I changed the tempo to several different settings and still could not get any of the other real tracks to show up.

I reset BIAB to factory settings which changed the default location of real tracks back to c:\bb\realtracks. opened the real tracks picker and of course there was nothing there to choose from since I don't have any real tracks in that location. I then changed the location back to e:\ and it still doesn't see those particular tracks.

so then I copied all of the realtracks and real drums over to the default location c:\bb\ and then reset to factory settings again. still no go. it still is not picking up all of the real tracks 1-39. It does show them in the "what add-ons do I have", but they're not available for me to select.

I'm still working with Kent at customer service but I thought I'd report this to anyone else who might run across this same situation.

There must be a file that lists the RealTracks that needs to be re-built

that's a good possibily Sam. but there's no "rebuild" button for real tracks- just for real drums in BIAB 2008.

I hope Kent can solve this problem for me!

Beagle,
I just loaded 2008.5 and it recognizes all of my RT. I have all of them.
Do yourself a favor and uninstall everything and start from scratch. Install everything on the C drive and see what you get.

Thanks, silvertones, I may do that. Right now Kent is still trying things with me and I think I'll stick with what he's got me doing unless he suggests that I reinstall or tells me he can't figure it out. he was able to figure out part of it. I can now see a lot more real tracks than before and now the ones that are N/A will show up if I check that box. they weren't showing up before. that problem was due to me having an older build of 2008. I was on 263 and the latest build for 2008.5 is 265. after installing that patch I can now see a lot more of the real tracks - but still not all of them for some reason. Kent's still working on it, so I'll stick with what he's having me do before reinstalling - but I think that's not a bad idea, tho! thanks!

I used 2008.5 build 1 with no problem. You're wasting your time. That's what he'll tell you to do in the end. I'd never be confident that things were right. You can reinstall to the E drive if you want instead. The key is reinstall. You're choice. Your best support is right here.

That fixed it! Thanks for the advice! it took me a while to reinstall because I had to start from BB 2007 and then install ALL those files and updates and then all the realtracks and realdrums again...but it worked!

Good deal!
As a side note PG doesn't really send out updates even though they only charge for updates. They send complete versions so you should have been able to just insert the disc for 2008.5 and done any of the updates from that point.

I didn't get any disks. My delivery was download only. My downloads were:
bb08super_pak.exe
bb2008_5_update_build260.exe
bb2008_5_update_build261.exe
bb2008_5_update_build264.exe
realband_update_build4.exe

so I didn't have to install 2007, I guess, but I don't have anything except "updates" for 2008.5

If you ever need to do it again just install 2008.5 versions of BIAB & RB and then build 264 for BIAB & build 4 for RB. All of the updates are cumulative. Previous updates are also included in future updates.
