I don't know if it is just me, but I think these 2017 Audiophile Tracks are just outright gorgeous. Some huge advances in sound quality. What a joy to work with these.
There’s a reason I’m driving on 95 Why I told my city friends goodbye I’m tired of the asphalt under these boots My country heart can’t shake its roots Designer dresses can be deceiving When there’s nothing inside and nothing worth keepin’ But there’s a girl in church in my home town Who sings like no one else around Not a thing about me she can’t mend And when she kisses me that’s how I win Don’t need this world or what it pays Take a heart of gold any day
CH:
Cause she gives me something to believe in Yeah, she gives me something to believe in You know the right girl can set you free And her small town is big enough for me So I ain’t leaving, no I ain’t leaving
V2
There’s a reason I’m walking in through this door I was raised ‘round here and I been through war Seen the very worst that the world can do I know the difference now between a lie and the truth Never put much faith in a bar of gold Knew that much when I was eight years old And when I met her on one moonlit night By amazing grace I saw the light It’s got nothing to do with guilt or sin You just compare the places that you’ve been My daddy told me when I was ten Son the best you can do is marry your friend
CH
And she gives me something to believe in Yeah, she gives me something to believe in you know the right girl can set you free And her small town is big enough for me So I ain’t leaving, no I ain’t leaving
Bridge:
By the grace of God, I’m on this road, and you can’t change what my heart knows I’m not waiting ‘til I’m fifty or a hundred years old, I’m betting right now on this heart of gold
CH:
And she gives me something to believe in Yeah, she gives me something to believe in Yeah, she gives me something to believe in And her small town is big enough for me So I ain’t leaving, no I ain’t leaving

Cool Song! On first listen, your songs Sound a bit raw asdn not quite finished. Thern, on subsequent listen, we hear this sing that is indeed finished but passed on the whistles and bells because the indigenous qualities were all that was needed. You always manage to sat the most with the least amount of whistles anb bells. A good guitar, a good tune and a perfectly natural voice to ble3nd it in to a magical piece ofr music, Works for us, We loved it a bunch,
David, you've added a whole new dimension to the forum. You are an excellent writer, producer and performer. You can be as soft as you are edgy. Another great song.
Yeah, I was going to add more stuff to this, then I sat back and said: Why? Why add in a bunch of useless stuff and ruin a perfectly good song?
I'm really trying to boil it down to 4 instrumental tracks now, and only add other tracks if I really, really need them and they don't get in the way of the vocals.

Thanks Dave! I really appreciate that. I have been working mighty hard on it and I know exactly what you mean.
I read an interview with John Mayer sometime back and he was talking about how vocals are "devilish" and the "hardest part." He says he can play the guitar in his sleep but he has to work hard on the vocals.
I can't remember the exact phrasing but he said something to the effect that you have to relax and not "try too hard" but that was a lot harder than it seems.
I think he nailed it. It is hard. But thanks for the kind words!!!

This one just rings true from first to last -the great sounding strummed guitar to your fine vocal... and above all a really good write. Great instinct to keep it simple!
This one really appealed to me a lot. The lyrics ring with honesty and believability throughout, and your performance shines with sincerity. I also thought that the arrangement and the production were perfect for framing the mood created by your composing... upbeat, enjoyable and a great listen!
Nice song very well performed. It is a new styled country song with a little bit smell of Dylan. As Robert said, this one just rings true from first to last -the great sounding strummed guitar to your fine vocal. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Cool song! I like the lyrics and the melody. You performed and produced it well too. May I ask how long it takes you to put something like this together?
Nice job all the way around David!

TEMPO TANTRUM: What a lead singer has when they can't stay in time.
Hmmmmmm. To be honest, the songs I am happiest with do not take that long, and they sort of come together the way Paul Simon did Graceland--complete music bed first. It usually starts when I find a style and progression I like and then I lay out the entire music bed, and make an MP3 and just let it sit there on my desktop. (By this point, the music mix is sounding pretty much exactly the way I want it.) Then I will listen to it a lot and sing along. If something doesn't click, I just leave it alone. But when the lyrics come it is usually in a flash and I keep a digital recorder at my desk to capture what is coming out of my mouth as I am singing along. Then I play it back, type it up, and tweak a few things. Then I do vocals and mix it.
Using this method, this whole song took maybe three complete hours from inception to final mix.
I have used other methods for songs where I would carefully analyze and plot and work forever on creating a "song strategy" and then in the end, I couldn't stand listening to them. They sounded "fake." Just being honest--the ones I like usually come in a flash out of nowhere and take ten minutes to scribble down.

That's pretty much how I work as well. Sometimes not, but for the most part I go for sound first THEN work out the rest. Really cool to know!
On a side note, in my facebook feed this morning was a BIAB ad with you in it! I was scrolling down and recognized you before I knew what it was for. Trippy man.
Again, really cool song!

There are two kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who sort of count, kind of...sometimes...but not really ALL of the time. Well maybe never.

Hey, it took me a little bit to figure this out but here it is. Pretty crazy the number of views when you look at that in the information. By the way, great job on your part in this! You represent the forum and product VERY well!

For some reason I felt you posted that before and I thought it was part of your tag! I found it funny...because it's ALL too true!
I don't think many people seem to get mine in my signature. I have had 2 PM's mentioning that it doesn't make sense. It was thoughtful of them.
I'll just say this, a day with David is a day with a laugh. You're hilarious in the right ways!...not to mention talented!

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
