David,

This one really appealed to me a lot. The lyrics ring with honesty and believability throughout, and your performance shines with sincerity. I also thought that the arrangement and the production were perfect for framing the mood created by your composing... upbeat, enjoyable and a great listen!

Definitely one to be proud of in so many ways!

All the best,
Noel

"take a heart of gold any day" Yes!

What a great write...you just always deliver.

The arrangement and the vocal make it all more convincing.

Superb!

Hello, David

Nice song very well performed.
It is a new styled country song with a little bit smell of Dylan.
As Robert said, this one just rings true from first to last -the great sounding strummed guitar to your fine vocal.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Very Bob Dylan-esque. I like it. It`s a pity that great guitar doesn`t come out a little brighter (in tone).

Cool song! I like the lyrics and the melody. You performed and produced it well too. May I ask how long it takes you to put something like this together?

Nice job all the way around David!

Shigeki ,

Thank you so much. You made me laugh really hard when you said "It smells like Dylan." I think I will use that in a song title here very soon!!!!

Hello TTL,

Hmmmmmm. To be honest, the songs I am happiest with do not take that long, and they sort of come together the way Paul Simon did Graceland--complete music bed first. It usually starts when I find a style and progression I like and then I lay out the entire music bed, and make an MP3 and just let it sit there on my desktop. (By this point, the music mix is sounding pretty much exactly the way I want it.) Then I will listen to it a lot and sing along. If something doesn't click, I just leave it alone. But when the lyrics come it is usually in a flash and I keep a digital recorder at my desk to capture what is coming out of my mouth as I am singing along. Then I play it back, type it up, and tweak a few things. Then I do vocals and mix it.

Using this method, this whole song took maybe three complete hours from inception to final mix.

I have used other methods for songs where I would carefully analyze and plot and work forever on creating a "song strategy" and then in the end, I couldn't stand listening to them. They sounded "fake." Just being honest--the ones I like usually come in a flash out of nowhere and take ten minutes to scribble down.

That's pretty much how I work as well. Sometimes not, but for the most part I go for sound first THEN work out the rest. Really cool to know!

On a side note, in my facebook feed this morning was a BIAB ad with you in it! I was scrolling down and recognized you before I knew what it was for. Trippy man.

Again, really cool song!
