Hi Everyone,

Alan here. When I was going through 8 months of chemo last year, I was unable to play guitar at all (no feeling in all but the index finger and thumb of my left hand). My playing is still very limited as only about 60% of the tactile sensation has returned - almost nothing in my little finger. But I'm here to talk about it - so, no complaints.

So, I spent countless hours with BIAB creating dozens of instrumentals and backing tracks. I did 12 - 15 for a local high school drama group. If you don't mind, I'm gonna post one every three or four days - or until the current one falls off the first page for a while.

Some of my favorites are acoustic interludes and acoustic beds. This one is the first of five acoustics interludes. I played nothing ... it's all BIAB. All I did was plug in a few chords and select the tracks.

Thanks in advance. Alan

Al, thanks for being back with us again, and for sharing your experiences.

Alan,

That is a terrific listen.

I don't recall anyone ever doing one like that. Nice choice of tracks. Folks often overlook the fact that many of the "background" RTs can be used for nice, melodic leads.

I would think you could place this in a "library" - even break out pieces for shorter cues... if you wanted to spend the time that requires (to make 5 cents... a tough way to make a living, but ya get bragging rights...)

Really enjoyed that.

VT,

Thank you so much for the kind words regarding the music and your personal kindness. I appreciate both. Wishing you the best,

I agree, that would make a great "library" tune. There's a fellow over at another board who has placed hundreds in well know TV and film productions.

Very nice.

Hi Floyd,

I'm more than delighted you enjoyed this. I've had very little experience with music libraries. The issue I've had with them is when you sign up with them, you have to allow them, or one of their customers, to rename the song without your permission, nor are they obligated to inform you that the name has been changed or what the new title is. And when they pay you your "royalties", they do not inform you from whom the money was collected.

Perhaps you've had better experiences. If so, I'd love to hear about it,

Also, I could send the tracks out as stems - that way they could edit them for length and placement as needed.

Take care,

ALan

Janice and Bud,

Thanks for the listen and I'm very pleased you liked it! I think you're referring to John Lawrence Schick over at JPF. I've know him for about 10 years. I was very active over there for many years - over 10,000 posts - a top ten poster out of 50,000. Woo-Hoo! But, that won't even buy a cup of coffee, or in my case, a can of Dr Pepper! (Don't drink coffee at all).

He's an excellent pianist and super nice guy. It would be nice to make ten or fifteen bucks here and there!

I mentioned to Floyd, in my reply to him, why I've shied away from music libraries. Perhaps I just happened to look at the wrong ones. And, maybe things have changed - it';s been several years.

Thanks again! You two are much too kind!

Alan

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
