Band-in-a-Box version 2017, build 462 on i3 cpu Dell laptop with 8K ram, Intel HD graphics & Win 7 Home.
Pressing the Alt key located on each side of the space bar will cause much of the graphics on a pop-up screen to go blank. Much, but not all, of the graphics can be restored by pressing and holding left mouse button while moving the mouse pointer around the pop-up screen.
I first noticed this bug with build 454 of 2017 and can duplicate at will.
Thanks for your feedback, hopefully more users will tell their experience.
One more tidbit that might help, when the program focus is on the main (chord sheet) screen pressing either Alt key indents the "File" menu button and underlines are drawn under the "E" of Edit, "O" of Options, "P" of Play, "l" of melody, "t" of Soloist, "A" of Audio, "m" of Harmony, "d" of Window and "H" of Help indicating possible shortcut key combinations.
Perhaps the program is anticipating a shortcut combination, rewrites the pop-up screen but the rewrite doesn't work because pop-ups don't have shortcuts. Just a thought.
Below is are examples with the audio settings pop-up.
I hope others will verify if they do, or do not have have this issue. I just tested with build 463 and the issue still exists.
To summarize, pressing either Alt button will cause much of the Preferences pop-up windows to go blank. Below are screenshots of normal and after Alt pressed with the Leadsheet options window open.
Jim, I just loaded the public release 463, and cannot duplicate this problem.
[Yes, the Alt key should bring up the underscored letters that allow a keyboard shortcut for menu items. This is a very old Windows standard and has been the case in BIAB for decades.]
BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 6.5 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6; Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus Studio 192, Presonus Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors
Are you saying you are holding the ALT when you click a drop down with the mouse? Cause that causes some issues here, but that would not surprize me? Why are you doing that?

Hi Dan,
I use the PrntScr button to capture screenshots.
For Windows 7 press just the PrntScr button to capture a screenshot of your complete display including the taskbar on the bottom of the screen or you can press Alt + PrntScr to capture a screenshot of just the active window.
Both of these options use to work with Band-in-a-Box but I've been unable to capture a screenshot of just the active window since updating to 2017.
Matt and Mario, Thanks to both of you for taking time to try and duplicate the issue.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
