I don't want to say too much about this one. I just hope you enjoy it.

I’m Alive
By David Snyder

https://soundcloud.com/davidsnyderchannel/im-alive

V1

Well, I’ve been dragged across the rocks
Up the hill to the shadow of the cross
And I have been tortured lately
By the thunder in my thoughts
And I’ve been shot right through the heart
By all this sorrow this world as brought
Suffering fools and wondering
Just what the hell I've been taught

Pre Chorus

And I know the words I’ll have
Come Judgment Day
If we get a chance to meet this is what I’ll say

CH

Here I am, and I’m alive
In spite of everything you threw at me
I survived
Never lost the fact that I am me
I own my soul and it is free
And God knows how hard I've tried
And I’m alive
God knows I’m alive

V2

I know that I’ve got nothing
Like the patience of Job
But I do know what I’ve paid
And I do know what I’ve owed
And I’m not swinging incense down the aisles
In any fancy robes
But I do know what I’ve reaped
And I do know what I’ve sowed

Pre Chorus

And I know the words I’ll have
Come Judgment Day
If we ever get a chance to meet this is what I’ll say

CH

Here I am, and I’m alive
In spite of everything you threw at me
I survived
Never lost the fact that I am me
I own my soul and it is free
And God knows, how hard I've tried
And I’m alive
God knows I’m alive

Hii David,

These songs are always hard for us to review/critique because one's faith is very personal. That said, here are our thoughts, FWIW.

The essence of this song is embodied in the lyric more so than the musical composition. Although well-done, the music is simply a conduit for the message.

The subject of the lyric (you?) has a strong perception of the worth he has patched together in his mortal life and how it reflects on him as a child of God. he has tackled every burden placed on his shoulders and did so without pom and parade. He simply did so as his duty and responsibility.

We like that the musical bed didn't detract from the message. Rather, it was the perfect launching pad for your spirited vocal. We also liked it was not "preachy". To the contrary, it was a well-defined message as simple, yet as important, as the musical vehicle.

We liked it a lot. You are one of the most creative people on the site and we're always anxious to heart what you have for us. Just went back for a 2nd listen as I (Alan) was typing. Keep up the good work! Wishing you the best,

Alan & Di

PS: I think what I said was constructed rather clumsily, but I hope I got our point across. We loved the song!

David, I felt your heart coming through on this. The sheer amount of great material you come up with astounds me. There's a line in this song for everyone. Thanks, Torrey.

David,
Oh yeah! This has the passion that Dylan started out with...and a nice switch to a folk rock sound in the middle.
A fine personal anthem.

Powerful song. Love the arrangement. Like Alan said, it doesn't take away from the lyrics. It does sound like something Dylan would have done. That's a pretty high compliment.

This is so very powerful. Killer write.

One of your best is so many ways - the vocal is so "all-out"!

The arrangement/production is note-worthy. Starts out "early Dylan" (and very well done) and ends up "early Springsteen" (very well done). But, still is "dripping current David Snyder"...

A great listen.

A big WOW, dude.

Lovely song David. Very emotional lyric supported by an excellent vocal. A strong message, a strong vocal and a well played acoustic guitar. Doesn't get much better than that...

I can rarely say it as good as Floyd. Awesome!!!

Never lost the fact that I am me
I own my soul and it is free
And God knows how hard I've tried
And I’m alive
God knows I’m alive

Love that lyric- a declaration that is unapologetic but not arrogant. Outstanding!!! You're killin' it man!! Take care. Greg

Wow! This is so good on so many levels. Love the way you build the intensity as the song goes on. Towards the end it has a "Like a Rolling Stone" kind of vibe.

Vocal is off the hook great! So emotive and full of character.

This is my new favorite from you.

Very emotional and gutsy vocal delivery

I love that

The subject of the lyric (you?) has a strong perception of the worth he has patched together in his mortal life and how it reflects on him as a child of God. he has tackled every burden placed on his shoulders and did so without pom and parade. He simply did so as his duty and responsibility. (this is what Alan wrote)

Alan states this so well (pomp instead of pom?) if so, how clever that he said parade
instead of circumstance.

Anyway, I enjoyed the hell out of it

Kenny

Hey Alan and Di,

Thank you so much. I do know exactly what you are saying. I also think this is a song people will interpret in their own way or make personal--I think.

Anyway, thanks so much and I am glad you enjoyed it.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
