I'm a newbie to the BIAB universe and I am collaborating with a fellow musician/colleague on a musical project whereby we are going to utilize BIAB. I'm an experienced Sibelius music notation user/arranger and I have some 50 of my arrangements for a 10-piece classic rock band (everything ... horns, vocals, rhythm section) already written in Sibelius that I want to import into BIAB. Can that be easily done? Are there any users out there who have such experience with importing specifically from Sibelius into BIAB? I realize that Sibelius was never intended to be a "playback" mechanism, but rather just a music notation tool.
As I mentioned my colleague already has experience with the BIAB product so I'll be utilizing his expertise to accomplish the importing duties. Any suggestions? I hope this is the appropriate forum to post my question.

What are you expecting to do with the Sibelius file?
BIAB is based on generating accompaniment based on a style you select (whether MIDI or RealTracks). Anything you import in from Sibelius (using XML or MIDI) is all going to go on the Melody track (as a multi-channel track), which gives you limited editing capabilities at this point. If you are just looking to pull a melody line and maybe a harmony line, you can manipulate that from the melody track, but if you are actually intending to hear all those 10-piece parts, then a better bet would be to use RealBand instead, where you can have up to 48 tracks to work with, and have BIAB track generation capabilities.
Please let us know what you are looking to do with BIAB, as that will drive the response.

What John said, plus when you import it into BIAB, you would want to click on the SEQ (sequence) button to sort out the channels.

Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated. Yes I am "intending to hear all those 10-piece parts". Looks like RealBand is the applicaiton that I should be exploring. One of the frustrating things that I encounter in Sibelius is that when I use "slash-notation" to notate chord symbols which can be quite prevalent for my rhythm section (guitar, keyboard, or bass guitar) Sibelius can't play those particular measures back. Sibelius will only play back actual written "notes" in those charts only if I indicate some specific notes for a unison type line or specific guitar riff let's say. So any slash-notations that WOULD actually be played by the live respective musician is something that Sibelius doesn't provide. Though I'm not familiar with them I think both the Finale and Dorico notation apps are the same way. So RealBand.

Yep, that's the best way. And then, you can also assign RealTracks guitars (for example) to play those chord changes (the slash chords).
Lots of options there.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
