It would be fine to get a 'freeze all RT's' feature.

- When you play in live situation, it would gain precious time since no regenerating of RT's is required ;only MIDI is regeneratd and that takes very few time. Song would have to be saved with all RT's freezed.
- When you are arranging your song, and when you want regenerate only the MIDI tracks : for example after having edited the style and when you want to check the changes with all the tracks. So, you can test several new patterns for example, without getting the annoying regeneration of the RT's.
- Other users may find other applications of this feature.
- This User option would be song dependent.
- 'Freeze all tracks' feature already exists. The new 'Freeze all RT's' would add more flexibility for the user.
- Discussion is open to include or exclude RD's in this feature.

Presumably you're referring to an additional single control to freeze all RealTracks instead of clicking on each individual RealTrack to achieve this?

When I have an arrangement that I like, I usually freeze the tracks and save the song. Then when I load it, it is ready to play almost instantly. Does that work for you?

I like the idea of being able to turn on freeze for everything when playing live. I enjoy having BIAB do its variations normally as it can improve things (If not just regenerate.), but when live, it would be nice to have a override to save processing. We get what we get for that gig. I gave up just last week freezing as with 40+ songs it's just too long and then you have to remember to unfreeze them later.... grin

I’m not sure what’s being requested here; but, I’m for anything that will speed-up the use of real tracks, which is all I use. I use BIAB in live situations, so wait time to load can be problematic at times, since many of my tunes use the maximum number of tracks. I try to remember to freeze my play list ahead of time, which may run 30 to 50 songs a night.

Although I do not gig anymore I can see where this would be helpful to those who do gig so +1.

For those with a lot of songs already maybe a batch freeze all RTs might be helpful.
You could select all the songs you want to freeze RTs, select batch freeze RTs, then go have a beverage of your choice as BiaB loads each song, freezes all RTs, resaves the song then proceeds to the next song. I don't know if this is possible, I doubt it, but is does sound good doesn't it!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Sounds good to me, if it is achievable, so +1 also.

My reading of the request is to have a one-button freeze of all the RealTrack tracks, but not the MIDI tracks (which take no time at all to regenerate).

You're right John :

The purpose of the request is to freeze ALL - and ONLY - the RT's of a given song.

Is the advantage of only the midi tracks regenerating in a live situation that you would change a patch to a different instrument? Doesn't midi always play the same instructions if not edited in some manner? Do you rearrange songs a lot when playing live?

Again, are you arranging and editing your songs a lot on the fly at live gigs?

Since the frozen RT's are essentially the same as a saved WAV or MP3 audio file, Why not render, save the file with the rendered audio and midi and simply open this file at your gig?

I'm not questioning the validity of your request, just not understanding the benefit at a live gig.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
