I finished my project on RB. Thanks very much to all who helped me figure things out. I like the way things turned out and I will be posting it to SoundCloud.
Now that I have finished, I have a question about Real Band compared to other DAW's. I think Real Band served me well in general. But it crashes about once a week. Sometimes it just freezes. Is this just my computer or have some of you had the same experience? Also, I can't find a command to highlight an entire track for deletion or consolidation (maybe I am overlooking it). And when I tried to render a track to work with Wavepad, it wouldn't work or it crashed.
If other DAW's have the same annoying quirks, then I see no reason to change. But if they don't, maybe I should change. I notice some of you folks use Reaper and others use Sonar. Before I start my next project, any thoughts to share?

To highlight an entire track, use the standard windows shortcut; CTRL + A (select all).
Another user has stated they are having problems deleting a whole track, so that may be something that needs to be looked at by the programmers.
Normally I use Track- Erase instead, which seems fine. Plus you can 'undo' an Erase until you Save the file ..
I have yet to use any DAW that 'never ever crashed'. I have had RB working stable for many years on my system, but I know others have fought with it at any given point in time.
They're all different, but none are perfect.

While I use Reaper as my DAW to mix and arrange my tracks, both BIAB and Realband are also indispensable tools that I use. My general work flow is... 1. Create a song or arrangement in BIAB. - I use BIAB here because I find it quicker to work with and because it allows me tools such as the Melodist and Sololist to generate ideas.
- I also like the the Reharmonist feature to investigate alternative chord progressions.
2. When I have a song created and the overall arrangement 'works' for me, I move to Realband. The reasons I use Realband are... - RB reads BIAB MGU/SGU files.
- RB generates MIDI tracks, MIDI Supertracks, Realtracks, Realdrums to a chord progression (just like BIAB). This makes it unique. No other DAW on the market can interface with PG Music technology like this.
- I like the 'Multiriff' function that allows me easily to generate multiple instances of the same Realtrack. This is especially useful with soloist Realtracks where I often compile a solo from four or five generated RealTracks.
- RB lets me generate portions of a Realtrack by simply highlighting a section and (re)generating. This is not possible in BIAB.
- Although I don't use it regularly, RB also lets me generate audio harmony with TC Helicon much more comprehensively that BIAB does. I find this very useful for vocals.
3. When I have my tracks to work with, I save them in Realband and load them into Reaper. My song is then assembled in Reaper. The reasons I like Reaper are... - It's ability to copy and paste sections of audio with precision is excellent.
- I like the variations of cross-fading that are available.
- Reaper has many different envelope shapes that can be applied to any envelope (pan, volume, tone, etc.).
- Reaper lets me use envelopes with individual controls on most VST/DX plugins. For example: recently on a project, I not only used envelopes to change the volume of my reverb, I also used separate envelopes to change the amount, the saturation and the delay of my reverb.
- Reaper's ability to time-stretch/shrink audio is excellent.
- The Reatune plugin is valuable to me for tuning vocal audio.

I have used Sonar from before I started with BB/RB. Since I knew how it worked and all the shortcuts, I have continued to work with it. I know where everything is that I need to do the job, and how it is best applied. I know it runs all the plugs and VST's I have. RB used to have a problem keeping plugs synced but I think that has been resolved in the latest version.
So, essentially, I use RB to generate tracks and nothing else.
I did explore RB to see if I would like it. I found it to be a bit confusing to get around and do the things I like to do in Sonar. Much of that may have been from my unfamiliarity with the program. And, I wasn't interested in learning the ins and outs of a new DAW when I have a good solid DAW already.
As far as your DAW freezing.... I've always understood that freezing of a program generally indicates a driver/compatibility issue of one sort or another. You didn't mention what sound card and driver you use so it's not clear if that could be the issue. Many sound cards and interfaces will run with several different drivers. However, it's almost always best to use the recommended driver and be sure it's the factory's latest one and that it's installed properly.
With Sonar, and with BB/RB, I rarely have freezes and other glitches that require a reboot or a restart. It does happen on occasion but those occurrences are rare. I attribute them to either Windows itself or to a communication glitch between the computer and the interface, or perhaps just a few data bytes that get put into the wrong place in the program. I can often tell when that happens due to the symptoms I start to see on my screen. It doesn't freeze but it does start acting strange. Screen motion becomes jumpy/ragged, not smooth. I save the work and shut the system completely down and do a cold reboot. Problem is solved.

Thanks to all of you for the time you took to share this info with me.
I started in BB also and I want to keep doing that. Going to RB from there makes sense.
I like some of the things Noel said about using Reaper to finish. What do you have to do to an RB project to get it to Reaper?
I will check on my drivers. I am not sure how to do that, but I need to learn if I am going to keep recording this way.

I use Sonar for the same reasons as Herb but I do use BiaB a lot and I have used RB on occasion. I have found that all of my crashes are from either operator error, driver problems (mostly audio and/or video drivers) or plug-ins (32 bit plug-ins in a 64 bit DAW or 64 bit plug-ins in a 32 bit DAW can cause problems).
Try to keep track of what happens just prior to your crash, then try to repeat it. Also save your work anytime there are changes in your song.

What do you have to do to an RB project to get it to Reaper? (or any other DAW)
export the tracks as waves from RB..... import them into the tracks of the DAW. Drag and drop usually works.

You can save it to video as well so you get the chords in the DAW. Though there should be a function in RB to save chords as midi markers, so dragging a midi track into your DAW will give you chords, else you have to enter them manually.
