Could someone who would be so kind as to explain what the lyrics window is all about please PM me? I have an assumption, just by it being called "the lyrics window", that it is some kind of windows where i can enter lyrics that appear on the screen when performing the song, like a teleprompter kind of deal. Apparently that would be wrong, that is has something to do with Real Band generating BGV when called up.
However, HOW do I enter where I want to program to sing "Don't worry baby" at the right time in the chorus of that sing? I tried to search forums but every search string I entered gave me 200 responses that just somewhere in them contained the word "lyrics", so it was giving me posts that said "I like those lyrics". No matter how I tried to phrase the search criteria, I never was able to get deep enough into a thread that explained what that function is all about, and I couldn't find it in any kind of help files or youtube tutorials. I have heard some performance stuff (I think once on a Danny C broadcast) where the software is singing, so connecting those dots makes me think Real Band is singing where lyrics are entered. It's the "How do I enter lyrics" step that I am tripping over.
Thanks in advance to whoever might reply.
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

I'd suggest going to the User Manual (Under 'Help' in RB).
Then CTRL+F to Find 'Lyrics'. The various aspects/ways are discussed, first relevant spot may be around page 146 (bottom). At least for me (see below). There are many ways to store lyrics.
I personally enter lyrics on a track I already have the melody on .. just MIDI notes, even if at zero volumes. That way I can quickly enter lyrics that display in time and with the melody beside them. And entering seems to flow from note-to-note/word-to-word. Just seems like a good way to see the lyrics when you need them.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
I enter lyrics in BIAB bar by bar under layers. Again, check the help files. You can use Control C and Control V to cut and paste the lyrics in and then Enter and Back Space to move them about as required. A bit slow, but you get smarter at it the more you do it and you can add spaces / line breaks in Word or Notepad. Ironically, nothing ever appears in the lyrics window though!:-)

Eddie, thanks for posting your question. I too have tried to figure out how to EASILY do this for years with out success. What I have always wanted to be able to do was insert the lyrics so they showed up while in play back at the same time the chord was being displayed. This would have made the BIAB much more useable tool for my single gigs. Many years ago I managed to do to it for the song "Taking A Chance On Love". It worked fine and still works fine, but it was so time consuming and convoluted I gave up on it. Every year I get an upgraded version of BIAB with hopes that something will have been done in this area. I haven't even bothered to check this years edition. I will be watching your post with interest and hope there is some little gem of information I have been missing. DennisD

Hi Guys. Dont want to hijack this thread but just wanted to say that I have tried entering the scrolling lyrics in Band-in-a-box. In the end I just found it easier to make my own. Like this one.
LyricLab A.I assisted chords and lyric app. Export lyrics and import directly into Band-in-a-Box 2024. https://lyriclab.net Play-along with songs you know and love, download SGU files https://playiit.com/

I need to ask you to define "melody track". Do you mean that I would have to sit at the keyboard and play in a track of single notes that define the melody? I have never created a song that had a melody track like that, unless a vocal track is interpreted by the software as a melody track.
Also, now 8 years into this product, I have never even launched BIAB. I have used RB from day 1. I really wish the two were more closely related, so the helps for one are the helps for the other. But I also have a friend who has twins and they are 2 inches different in height and 20 pounds different in weight, so.... I guess BIAB and RB are fraternal twins. If even twins at all. Sounds like siblings would be a closer analogy.

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
