I've been using Presonus Audiobox USB for BIB 2017 with no problems. After this last update from Win 10 all of a sudden I can't preview styles.
I can load the new style and listen but I can't preview it from the list like
I have been doing for years now. Can't get any help from Presonus or Microsoft.
Just curious if anyone else might have seen the same problem. I have uninstalled the Presonus software and reinstalled with no change.

Any help would be appreciated.

If the ASIO Driver is set to Always On Windows Media Player can't use it to play the preview.

Pipeline, Thanks for the suggestion, I unchecked the box and restarted but still not working. When I click the green arrow it blinks and the yellow info box shows up but it will stay locked forever. I do appreciate the help.

What happens when you try to preview? Have you tried rolling back the most recent Win 10 update (which should put your computer back to where it was before the update) and checked if that makes a difference?

Jim, I haven't rolled back the update. When I try to preview it flashes quickly and the info box appears and that is it until I close the program. The little progress meter doesn't move at all.
I did switch to my creative soundcard and everything works fine. I just can't record my guitar from it.

Thanks again,

Denver,

Are you trying to use ASIO drivers for both the Creative sound card and AudioBox USB? You might be experiencing a driver conflict.

Try setting the Band-in-a-Box audio settings so audio playback is using MME and audio input is AudioBox USB ASIO.

Also, go to the Windows 10 equivalent of Control panel and see if either the Creative sound card or AudioBox USB are experiencing conflicts.

So do you have Windows set to Presonus Audiobox ?

I use VoiceMeeter http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Voicemeeter/banana.htm
you can have Presonus Audiobox as a hardware input and output to the Creative so it mixes all the ASIO inputs to one output using VoiceMeeter AUX Virtual ASIO or VoiceMeeter Virtual ASIO.

I am not familiar with VoiceMeeter, I suppose I'll look into it.

I don't have the ASIO driver installed for the Creative card. It will work with your suggestion of setting the I/O on different devices. The sound is very weak when using it like that but I guess it is better than nothing. I am not sure how it will affect Sonar I haven't ventured there.

I mainly used the two devices for ballgames, matching the radio with the TV using radio delay software.
The thing is I have used this setup for almost 2 years with no hiccups until the last update. I spent an hour trying to find the restore function. The only way to roll back now is to find the update and uninstall it. I really do appreciate the help and I will post if I find a good solution. Thanks, Denver

I think dis-installing and re-installing the Presonus device would solve your problem

HTH,

I did that twice. I unhooked the unit and uninstalled the software restarted the PC and reinstalled the software and then hooked the unit back to the computer. I appreciate the suggestions very much. It looks like I will have to keep trying things. Thanks!

I posted this on the RME forum as i had problems with windows 10 64bit and an RME UFX ii USB interface. I know that NVDIA graphics drivers seem to cause problems, but not on windows 7 BTW. - F.

Quote:
... Had the same until i figured it out, with an ASUS x99 PRO USB 3.1 mainboard and after installing Windows 10 64bit ... my problems were over when i dumped my bought Bitdefender 2017 Total Security, and as such especially it's built in firewall.

Installed the free 360 TS antivirus and Zonealarm free instead ow, both can be set to ignore individual prograns, folders and even entire harddisk partitions. Besides i think the ASmedia USB 2.0 and 3.1 drivers downloaded from ASUS mess up the USB signals from my UFX ii. I had a PCIe card with a NEC (Renesas) USB 3.0 chip on it, old ASUS U3S6 card, and use this for mu UFX ii, smooth ever since except once when switching on the UFX solved dropouts during playback.

ASUS x99 mainboard and Windows 10 64bit: Get the latest BIOS, USB and chip-set stuff for it, and i left the mainboards' BIOS settings regarding these as "default", but switched off WIFI to release the PCIe slot for the NEC USB card.

I have an ATI radeon R7 360, and installed just the elementary drivers, no gamers stuff etc., as suggested elsewhere on some forum. Maybe this is also true for NVDIA?. - F

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
