This is what I posted on SoundCloud and Kara Moon: "Just Me is a song where Band-in-a-Box is generating the backing tracks while I play the guitar parts. The chorus lead is also from Band-in-a-Box. Note that all backing tracks are MIDI. The only thing that I did was to change the sound sources and add the wah wah to the clavichord. " BiaB Style = W-Report Hip Hop Fusion Surprise I kept everything this time!Let me know what you think. Just Me {EDIT} - For some reason this turned out a lot louder than when I uploaded it so you may want to turn down your speakers or head phones prior to listenting.

Mario,
This is great! You are the MIDI Master! The backing tracks are excellent and your guitar work is outstanding... Great tone and a smooth mix.

Quite extraordinary Mario. This really kicks.
You got a sensational sound from the Drum Kit, clean and crisp.
A really like the vibe that the song brings, and the 'wah' colors everything nicely.

Nicely done, Mario.
As Trevor said - "clean and crisp". Nice sound to the drums and bass.
A good "fusion jazz" feel happening that "grabs you" by the end of the song (and holds on)
Nice.

Hey Mario. Very cool guitar riffs. Love this style of music. Backtrack was excellent. Very interesting phrasing with the guitar melodies. Well done

I love this, Mario! It has an amazing groove, and as always your guitar work is amazing And the back track is also on point - I wouldn't have known it was entirely MIDI if not mentioned! Looks like you're living up to your new title, MIDI Master Mario Thanks for sharing!
Cheers, Deryk

Thanx to all that listened and commented, I greatly appreciate the comments, good or bad.
Bob, RnAM, Deyrk, the MIDI Master here is BiaB. As I stated all I did was to change patches and add the wah-wah to the clavichord. Everything except the wahs was verbatim from BiaB. I was trying to show that the MIDI side of BiaB can be as good as the RT side. I feel that sometimes the MIDI side gets overlooked, especially with the crappy (IMHO) GM set that comes with BiaB. Thankfully PGMusic is including better MIDI sounding options.
VT, Floyd, The drum kit is a funk kit from Steve Slate's SSD 4. For this song I took the complete kit and applied an overhear mic effect from the Chris Lord Alge drum collection, another $29 USD Wave find. This is a very valuable tool for drum tracks. Sometimes I divide the drums in to kick, snare, toms and cymbal tracks and use this effect on every track.
Floyd the bass is from Sonar's Dimension Pro. The slap bass's only effect is a limiter.
Tommy maybe we can sometime jam. Send me a PM and let me know where you live. Nothing to detailed. I am from a town near Rochester NY.
Scott, thanx so much for the nice comments.

Man, love the drums! And the bass too, I wouldn't have guessed that was midi unless you told me.
Excellent job on the guitar of course, that's the icing on the cake for me.

Ah, so you finally let BIAB do most of the work for you? ;-) Just kidding, this sounds very cool and groovy and the ambience quite resembles a live gig in a jazz club kind of thing. Good, full sound for just MIDI tracks, an excellent guitar playing!

I could see this song being in a video game score super easily as a main walking theme! I really love it. Great job. Love all the little touches you added.
Cheers, Ember

J&B, I am not a MIDI master. I'm just a MIDI hacker. Actually BiaB did almost all of the MIDI work on this one. I just picked the sounds and added the wah-wah on the clavicord.
Alan & Di - thanx for taking the time to listen and comment. I greatly appreciate it as I know your time is very limited now. Di is in our prayers.
RnAM - Yep I let BiaB do most of the work on this one. I really like to play my parts but this time I thought I would showcase what BiaB can do MIDI wise.
Lambada, Ember, and Sergio thanx for listening and the very nice comments.

Really, really cool Mario!!! Great vibe. I could hear this in a 70's style movie, maybe a spy film. So easy to listen to-infectious!! Take care. Greg

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
