Dealing with some health problems, so I can't comment much, but there has been some great stuff here lately.

Here's an oldie.

Rocky Mountain Lullabye

©2001 Robert Randall Burke

She left her home up in Baltimore
And hit out on the road
A minibus and a Coleman stove
And an old radio.

There was a light in the Western sky
Drawin' her like a firefly
And a Rocky Mountain Lullabye
That she wanted to hear.

She stopped in a Mesa town
At the edge of the sea
Where she could watch the sun go down
Where she could be free.

There was a light in the Western sky
Drawin' her like a firefly
And a Rocky Mountain Lullabye
That she wanted to hear.

What a cool song. Had a hint of Jimmy Buffet in the intro. Super vocal and backtrack

What a lovely, relaxing tune, 90 dB! Loving the summer vibes in this one smile I like how the lyrics tell a story too - thanks so much for sharing!

Really excellent Bob, right up to scratch, as usual.

I really have to say I loved the choice of using Pedal Steel

The Style is perfect for the song, and the lead break fills every thing out perfectly.

Stay healthy!

Nice.

I saw the Rocky Mountains for the first time when I flew home a few months back to visit my folks. It was a beautiful sight! This song reminded me of my travels. I rather enjoyed this mellow, sweet tune. Thank you for sharing!

From the start, I was thinking Marty Robbins.

Good old school country. Nothing like a "crying" steel to take you back.

The steel solo was OK. nice level bump to put it up front, but... it didn't resolve effectively. Could have been a bit better. Still nice, but .... you know.

Nice job.

"There was a light in the Western sky

As always, your writing is as "tight as it comes". I could have quoted the whole thing as an example. Never a word out of place. A lesser writer would take 10 times the space to say the same thing. Truly incredible writing. With such a "comfortable" singable melody - yet another skill on display.

I assume that is you playing the opening acoustic... super! Great sound, excellent recording - great acoustic sound, perfectly played.

The backing carries this perfectly. Enjoyed hearing a steel solo. Kenney Chesney could include this on any of his current records...

Keep it up, Mr. Burke.

Scott,

It's an oldie, but it's a true story. Been playing Buffett so many years some probably rubbed off. grin

Trevor,

The pedal steel solo actually has two steel tracks playing off each other. grin

That might not be as obvious on some systems. Thanks for the listen and kind comments.

Bob.....

I just gave a listen.
Good folk ballad and I liked your vocal and your delivery works very well.

Lyrically....these lines stand out to me:
"There was a light in the Western sky
Drawin' her like a firefly"

Well done....

Very nice work, Bob. Lyrics, vocals, and some wonderfully fat steel. Keep 'em coming.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
