Cages Its back to psychedelic roots for this one ( my first for a while - there`s been some fantastic songs posted while I`ve been travelling - blink and you miss something here!). I wasn`t sure if Scott C would like the percussion loaded feel of this song, but he quickly sent back an on-the-money lead that floats over top and then added a really cool slide part under the vocal. Janice may have missed the first wave of the San Fransisco music boom but well, you all know she can sing anything. Comments welcome and thanks to all tuning in. Yeah! I love this.
I'm huge fan of the San Fransisco sound of the late 60s, early 70s, and you nailed that groove. What really kicks this up a notch for me is the percussion track you added to it. B3 sounds great too, and Scott's playing is right on the money, I really like the work you two have done together. And of course having Janice on board doesn't hurt either! Killer job on the mix too. Great track guys, on my third listen as I type this.

Really liked Roberts music right from the very first song he posted. Made extra special knowing Janice would be part of the project as well. Had some wonderful chats with Bud during this time. I used two guitars on this project. Used a Fender Stratocaster for the melody and a Gibson SG for the slide parts. Amp was a Purdy (62 Fender Deluxe Clone) and had a touch of delay (FlashbackX4), added a bit of dirt with my MAXON808 overdrive and compression from a Boss CS-2.

Must be the guitar Scott!

What a tune! It's captivating right from the get go - that opening riff is truly attention grabbing I love the groove, and the catchiness of this. Great job guys - you should all be proud of this!

Robert Scott Janice
Very atmospheric Jefferson Airplane feel nicely done. Really well written and put together. Liked Scott's guitar which was melodic and a perfect fit for the piece. Enjoyed the vocals and the harmonies giving the song a 60's feel. Great work all round.

Thank you, that`s very kind, Dave. I`d gladly take my San Francisco albums to a desert island and listen to them letting what`s left of my hair get wild again! The percussion got added in bits mostly after I heard the spacey lead Scott sent me; there`s a vast resource of different bells & whistles in the BiaB drum section I`ve hardly begun to explore. Robert This is really cool. Kinda reminds me early King Crimson and Robert Fripp!

David, I didn`t hear the Frippertronic sound of Scott`s guitar before, but I do now! Thanks for taking time out from all the fine songs you`ve been writing to have a listen. Robert

Kenny Thanks for the welcome back, Kenny. I`m glad you liked this. Robert What a tune! It's captivating right from the get go - that opening riff is truly attention grabbing I love the groove, and the catchiness of this. Great job guys - you should all be proud of this! Derek, All I gave Scott as a style hint for the intro was "Santana" and was thrilled when he sent me that opening riff. These folks (Scott, Janice and Bud) are such accomplished and relaxed musicians - I don`t really deserve such partners! Robert

Dang, guys ...
You make me wanna find some bell-bottoms, tie-died shirts and let my hair grow!
Wow, this is so good in every way! Janice's harmony is a wonderful addition to the great lead lead vocal. And holy smoke ... that guitar work! perfect mix and love all the backing tracks. All of you have recreated and executed the 1968 sound as good as can be done, I would think. Super cool!

Robert/Scott/Janice...
What a treat to hear! Such an interesting write - I really like the pace of the lyric - terrific images, well painted with a minimum of words...
Scott's guitar work is awesome (both parts).
The background vocals are haunting. The percussion is a cool addition. Excellent mix.
Nice work by all...

Peter Thanks for the listen and kind comments, Peter. I`m glad you felt it had the Airplane feel. The harmonies they did on songs like Wooden Ships was how I described what I was looking for to Janice, and you can tell she got the message! Robert Rob, Thanks for listening and commenting. Alan & DI Alan & Di, Many thanks for that. I still find the music of that era blows away anything since... so why not spend some of the musical hours I have left paying "homage" so to speak? Its been great to find folks on the forum willing to support my efforts. Robert

fj Floyd, I`ve been trying to rein in my wordy tendency lately,so appreciate your comments on the pared down lyrics. Totally agree on Scott`s guitar; amazingly to me, he fired those tracks back within a day or so of hearing my demo. Thanks for your thumbs up on our collaboration. Robert

Robert, We are really impressed that you asked Brian Ferry to sing this one But seriously, this is great! We had no idea that you could produce such a sound. We are both big fans of Roxy Music and this is that sound. Perfect! Rob and Anne-Marie
