Hi, I have the audiophile edition and I did a minimal Setup to C: when I got it new.
Now I downloaded the updates and when I try install, it recommends I install on C:\bb.
Naturally, I'd prefer anything with big space requirements to be installed on my external Audiophile HD, which is on E:\ (D: is my DVD).
But whatever got installed on C:\bb by Setup (program executables?) may need updating, too.
So which should I choose? C: or E:?
I face the same dilemma with the Real update.

When you install an update, the installer will ask you to specify C as the program drive and E as the location for RealTracks. It may show different values but you can override them. After that, all subsequent updates should default to those same choices (unless your USB drive letter changes).
I always run updates a second time, and specify the USB drive as the program drive, so I keep it up to date too. It does not hurt to run an update again; the installer checks file dates.

Well, it's been said by some including me; i keep the PG drive as it was, and added all the updates in a separate folder on it. Thus i can revert back to a fresh install when needed, with out my own junk. F.i., i corrected some holds for the Realtracks, especially when the volume wasn't set right. All the BIAB stuff on my system i installed on a separate 1.5 TB internal sata drive, and especially due exporting WAV routines either in a special folder or in the BIAB DrapDrog folder it's already filling up quite a bit .. F

To clarify, I keep "my own junk" elsewhere also (several places, actually). I'm only talking about keeping the PG Music-supplied USB drive up to date with all patches, as well as keeping my 'working' copy on my own drive up to date.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
