This song is a random collaboration for the 50/90 songwriter challenge. Doug Haberman provided the lyrics and I did the music. Band In A Box mad it so simple to throw this tune together in about a day. It would have taken me much longer to do a demo of half the quality if I hadn't found this program. This song is done in a traditional bluegrass/country style and uses all Real Tracks. The final arrangement, vocals and mixing was done in Cubase.
Tempo: 88bpm Real Tacks Used: 592 Bass, AC, Bluegrass 598 Guit, Ac, Bgrass 589 Banjo, Bgrass 595 Fiddle, Rh, Blg 599 Mandolin, Rh Bgrass 434 Fiddle, Soloist, Bluegrass 436 Mandolin, Soloist, Bluegrass 433 Banjo, Bluegrass (Soloist)
Lyrics:
(V. 1) Don’t have a butler Don’t have a maid Seen some polo horses But I ain’t never played Be nice to own a Bentley But I’m partial to my truck And every day I wake up grateful… For my good luck
(Chorus) I’m lucky and I feel it Cuz I know where I belong I love my old hometown And those good old country songs So many folks are lost out there But I learned right from wrong And I’m luckiest of all… Cuz you came along
(V. 2) I’ve been to New York Been to L.A. Too much steel and concrete I could never live that way But the beauty of the countryside Leaves me thunderstruck And every day I wake up grateful… For my good luck
(Chorus) I’m lucky and I feel it Cuz I know where I belong I love my old hometown And those good old country songs So many folks are lost out there But I learned right from wrong And I’m luckiest of all… Cuz you came along
(V. 3) I was unlucky When it came to love Like a trusty tractor Stuck in the mud Then you walked into my life Now I’m no longer stuck And every day I wake up grateful… For my good luck
(Chorus) I’m lucky and I feel it Cuz I know where I belong I love my old hometown And those good old country songs So many folks are lost out there But I learned right from wrong And I’m luckiest of all… Cuz you came along

Good one, Sammy. Well mixed. The BIAB bluegrass RTs really do make putting these type songs together a bunch of fun...
A good set-up in the lyric - goes where it should...
You have a terrific "natural Country" vocal sound. (That makes you even "luckier" still..)
Good job.

Samuel, Great alt. bluegrass song. Outstanding lyrics, performance and vocals. Reminds me a little of the Zac Brown Band, and that is not bad. Welcome to the forum!! Keep 'em coming. This is one of the hottest genres going right now and you're right on top of it. Keep going.

Very entertaining - fun lyrics with a catchy chorus which you deliver like a natural ,as Floyd said. I`m enjoying checking out other good songs over there on your SoundCloud site.

Sam, a bright and lively delivery. The song has a great vibe, and the mix is particularly good. Not too busy, but not too light-on either.
Great effort.

You nailed this, Samuel! There isn't a thing I would change about this. The composition is incredible, and that chorus is perfectly catchy. The vocal performance too is just perfect. Thanks so much for sharing! Can't wait to hear your next one
Cheers, Deryk

Medium tempo bluegrass is not easy to pull off...live or with BiaB.
You did a good job getting those RT's to cooperate and give a band sound to the project.
And you have a nice fluid voice that weaves around the arrangement as good BG should.
Oh, and the write ain't shabby either!
Enjoyed it.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
