As there is no RealBand for Mac this is the next best thing.

I have BIAB/RealBand 2015 Windows and Wine/Wine Bottler. Is there a way to install and run RealBand on my Mac? I have not been able to get it to work.

"I have not been able to get it to work."

What's not working ?

You can use WinOnX, the Drums folder needs to be on the home drive and you need WMP.

You can just get the Mac Biab.app doing a crossgrade and use your Win RealTracks/Drums if you have wav files, you can decompress the wma with Decompress.exe or Decompress.zip.

EDIT:
To get the Holds to work, rename the 2 Library to LibraryM
then create a symbolic link in Windows "Library" in the same folder that connects to LibraryM (bb\RealTracks\Library & bb\RealTracks\Direct Input\Library)

When using the drive on Win you need to keep the drive as the same letter E: F: G:.. as the symlink points the current drive letter.
If not correct right click Computer > Manage > Disk Management > Change Drive Letter.

First of all, I must clarify that I am primarily a Mac user and currently have the Mac 2017 Everything PAK. I bought the basic pro Windows version just to have it on my Surface Pro. I also have RealBand installed but have never used it. (I got the SP3 specifically for digital art, but I just found some YouTube tuts on using it for music production. Interesting. And I have been able to use my 27" iMac as a monitor via the Microsoft Desktop app.)

I have a really old version of Power Tracks that I never even installed back when I was using Parallels on my Mac. I still don't think I would have any use for it at this point, but RealBand could be interesting. I'm just not sure if it's worth my time and effort but your post got me thinking.

I do have WinOnX installed on my other Mac and I get fairly good results running some older PGMusic Windows apps on it, e.g. Jazz Guitarist Master Class, Rock Guitarist, etc. In my experience, WinOnX is not perfect but it's a lot cheaper and easier than Parallels.

Re: what's not working, I know my statement was vague but I was referring to WineBottler (and it's probably user error.) So far I WAS able to get Chordpulse running using WineBottler, which is cool, but I tried several of my old PGMusic apps with no success. I selected Windows 98 in WineBottler because these apps are dated 1999...but maybe there are some other settings I need to change because they're so old. I'm intrigued by the possibilities though and I've found several YouTube tutorials on Wine Bottler so later this week I will try it again after viewing the tuts. Still don't know if I'd want to bother with RealBand, but it would be cool to be able to run a few of the other apps I mentioned as "native" apps without having to use the slow & clunky WinOnX interface.

I do appreciate your expertise and willingness to help. I may be back with more questions after I view the tuts and give it another go.

It worked better with WinOnX than WineBottler, when a window went behind it was stuck.
RealBand on Win can be very frustrating at times with crashing, might not be worth the trouble.
You can Midi Sync MacBB with REAPER, though not as good as ReWire works.
If they have to come up with a 64bit MacBB with Apple going to 64bit only apps, that might be worth waiting for, should have ReWire hopefully, we are all hoping for a Mac/Win BBvst to do away with RealBand, so you could generate tracks, Multiriffs directly in any DAW.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
