All realtracks here, apart from the vocal and the drum kit. Mixed in Logic Pro.

Boner McPharlin's Moll

Cruising down the highway
My girl by my side
Ocean far below us
Ocean deep and wide
Deep and wide

My girl sits in silence
She don’t know what for
Silence is a virtue
When you’re running from the law
From the law

Watch her in the water
Watch her get undressed
Freedom is a pretty thing
I know I think I guess
I think I guess

Cruising down the highway
Shark nets hunt me down
Coppers in the shadows
The cops who run this town
Hunt me down

My girl she knows nothing
I pray it stays that way
Her innocence is a flower
If it only lasts a day
Lasts a day

A shark is to the ocean
What greed is to a man
The strong alone survive
The rest of us are lambs
The rest of us are lambs

You’ll read it in the papers
Boner’s on the run
When I disappear forever
You’ll know the [*****] won
They won

I started with the _TXBLZFN.STY style but customised the instruments for the song eg the harmonica is not in the original style (but suited it so well!).

Terrific groove and cool lyrics.
The back track is very nicely layered ( love the
harp & B3 together!).
Your vocal has an interesting treatment and echo: I`d be interested in how it was achieved.

Thanks Scott and Robert. The vocal is radically filtered top and bottom for a telephone-like effect. There's a bit of distortion and widening on there too. The echoes are a throw delay automated to emphasise certain words in the song. It took me a while to get the sound I wanted but ultimately was easily achieved with Waves CLA Effects plugin.

This is really different from you! Love the vocal effect and the funky beat. Cool song and a pleasant surprise! Best to you,

PS: I like the way you used the wah-wah for the lead break - interesting!

Cheers Rob and Alan. Yeah a fair bit of experimentation for this production. I found four wahs from the same family amongst the Realtracks and used them all. The most melodic I saved for the instrumental choruses. I considered other lead options but thought nah keep it funky from head to toe.

Oh yeah, we love it when a forum regular takes you to a new music place.

The vocal effects and wahs are both creative and effective.

And the dark lyric is great.

It's literally ALL good.

Superbly cool!!!

Cool song!! Has a great feel. I really like that megaphone style on the vocal for this song. Harmonica works great! Nice job!! Take care. Greg

"I write and play in quite a few different genres. The flexibility BIAB gives me makes transpositions, from one genre to another, so easy and quick. A number of times I've created a piece, intending it to be a Smooth Jazz or Smooth RnB song. But when I generated the song, it just didn't work in the intended genre.

With a simple click of the Style Picker ... BAM! The song ended up as a pretty decent Pop song. I only had to replace a couple of instruments from the new style and alter a couple of chords..."
