Hi:
I'm new in this Forum, although I do have an old Powertrack version 4, updated to 7, in don't have the capability of converting Instrument Definitions. I own also a Technics KN3000 and a Korg X5DR,old nice Instruments, now i would like to convert the banks and get them into the Power Tracks. I got them from Cakewalk as .ins but did not find the way with my Powertracks version to convert them to a Patch.ini. Does anyone have the possibility? and would help.
thanks a lot in advance

http://www.pgmusic.com/support_miscellaneous.htm The Korg is already done for you. Normally the convert method is under Edit-MIDI-Convert patch list If you don't have it there maybe post the file and someone else can convert it and add it to the list on the page above.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Post the file on a file sharing site like DropBox , 4Shared or Box and then post a link to here. To post a link, while in the full editor screen, click on the icon next to the emojs icon (the button has a blue "world" circle with a gray, sideways figure eight (link) in the forefront) and enter the link then a description.

You can rename Technics_KN3000.ins > Technics_KN3000.ini they are just txt if you drag them into notepad you can see what is what and edit them, look at the guide at the start of the KorgX5DR.ini and here http://www.pgmusic.com/tutorial_ptwpatchmap.htmTechnics_KN3000.ins; ----------------------------------------------------------------------

KorgX5DR.ini the lines with ; are not used, just info. ; This file contains lists of patch names. If you make any changes ; to this file, it will automatically be compiled to PATCHES.BIN ; at program start up. ; ; The file format is the instrument name in brackets followed by ; a list of patch names in this format '<Number>=<Name>'. The ; numbers must in either the range of 0-127 or 1-128. Therefore, the ; first patch number must be 0 or 1. You can skip patch numbers, ; and the program will insert the skipped numbers into the patch list ; as the name. Even though the numbers must be between 0-127 or ; 1-128, the list can have less than 127 patches. (i.e if there's ; only 60 patches in a list, you can end the list at 60.) The ; numbers must be in ascending order. ; ; Starting with PTW 3.5, you can enter a patch list as zero based ; and force it to become one-based within PTW by typing the following ; line (without the semicolon) immediately before the list name ; FORCEONEBASED ; ; The file format (in 3.0 or higher) now supports multiple banks ; within a patch list. ; Starting a the current version PTW now supports bank MSB and LSB ; settings. The (Bank X) setting now sets only THE MSB ; SETTING. ; ; Think of the (Bank X) setting as the Bank MSB and think of ; the (BankLSB) setting as the LSB. ; ; The default bank MSB and LSB settings are both 0 and 0. So, if ; you just start typing patch numbers in a patch list, they will be ; assigned MSB and LSB values of zero. These patches are ; considered to be in the 'default bank'. ; ; When you create a patch list, it must contain patches in the ; default bank'. The 'default bank' is a group patches with both an ; MSB of zero and an LSB of zero. You normally should have 127 ; patches in the default bank. ; ; Patches with different bank MSB settings may be added to a list ; after the list for the default bank by typing '(Bank X)' with X ; being a bank number between 0 and 127. The default bank MSB is ; Bank 0, so there is no need to type '(Bank 0)' after the patch ; list name in brackets.
; You can set the bank LSB by using a new '(BankLSB X)' setting. ; The default BankLSB setting is 0 so you don't have to type ; '(BankLSB 0)' after the patch list's name.
; You also have the option of defining the Bank MSB and LSB ; settings for a patch by the use of commas. For example: ; ; 1,30,40=Orch Hit ; ; In the above example, the Orch Hit sound is patch 1 with a Bank ; MSB value of 30 and Bank LSB value of 40; ; ; Patch List Example Using Banks: ; ; Col 1 of file-->| ; [My PatchList] ; 1=Piano ; 2=Guitar ; 3=Flute ; 4=Trombone ; (Bank 1) ; 1=Organ ; 2=Bass ; 11=Trumpet ; (Bank 10) ; 16=Electric Guitar ; (BankLSB 1) ; 1=Space Sound ; 2=Massive Distortion ; 1,20,20=Toy Piano ; 2,20,20=Chimes ; ; In the above example the default bank has only 4 patches, but should ; normally have 127 patches. These 4 patches automatically get ; assigned MSB of zero and LSB of zero. ; ; 3 patches have a Bank MSB value of 1 and an LSB value of 0. ; (organ, bass, trumpet). ; ; There is one patch with a Bank MSB of 10 and LSB 0. (Electric ; Guitar) ; ; There are 2 patches in Bank 10 with an LSB value of 1. (Space ; Sound and Massive Distortion). ; ; There are 2 patches with a Bank MSB of 20 and LSB of 20. ; Note: These are considered to be in a different bank than the prior 2 ; patches which had an MSB of 20 but had an LSB of 0. ; The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
