While I was producing a session yesterday at the studio, I saw the plugin Waves Tune in action. Absolutely remarkable. I like it better than Melodyne because you can see the wave pattern in ProTools in realtime as you adjust the plugin.

It's cheap, only $70. Any comments from users? Not urgent, just considering it for use in SONAR.

Thanks.

I just bought it about a week and a half ago based on a thread here in the forum. It was on sale for $29 and I could not pass that up. I have not had a chance to try it out just yet but when I do I'll share thoughts here. I have the built-in tuning module in Nectar 2 but have not really had much luck with that one. Maybe Waves Tune will work better for me.

I think the one on sale for $29 is Waves Tune LT. Waves Tune is also on sale, but for $69, and there is also Waves Tune Real-Time, on sale for $69.

Check out the overview at the bottom of this page: https://www.waves.com/plugins/waves-tune

Matt -

I was just searching on whether Waves Tune worked with Sonar and was going to post the somewhat dated (2015) response, but at the end saw that you asked the question yourself in the Sonar forum.

However, in case anyone else is interested:

Maybe but the one I bought for $29 was NOT LT...it is the full program!

Let me know how this works also, I have used Melodyne and also Antares autotune, but to get the program for $69 vs the $399 that antares sells theirs for is amazing deal.

There are two versions of Waves Tune currently selling for $69 (plus the LT version for $29). One of the Waves Tune versions is better suited for real-time use; the other is for going through manually to make corrections on individual notes.

I found many comments in the SONAR forum but nothing definitive. Some say it won't work at all; others have it working but need to do Rewire first, every session. Still not sure what the truth is.

All I do know it that it (the manual one) is incredible in operation. I sat next to a highly skilled and well-known engineer who has Melodyne and Autotune but prefers to use Waves Tune.

The videos are impressive. While the sale is going on, Waves has a bundle of six vocal effects that include the full version of Waves Tune for $89 US. The bundle is called Vocal and you can find out more about Vocal +++ HERE +++

Interesting that Sonar is not listed as one of the supported hosts in the Vocal Bundle, but Reaper is.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
