I forgot his name, but a famous Asian Medical Examiner said our hearts will beat a certain number of times and that's it, you die.

We have to make due during these beats.

Los Angeles is one of those cities that I have visited somewhat often on business travel. It the only city in the world where I feel like there’s a musical narrative pointing out the scene. I have Tom Petty to thank for that. “Move west down Ventura Boulevard”. When I visit, maybe it’s a weird thing for me to do it but I find it hard not to resist pointing my rental car to be able to drive west down Ventura Boulevard, while Free Fallin’ plays in my head. For this visitor, it just makes a sort of magic happen. I know, I need to get out more.

I have been fortunate not to have succumbed to substance abuse. I used to really look down my nose that do or have done so. As I get older, I find myself having more compassion for those that do struggle with it, even those that brag about it. There’s a hole they are trying to fill. We all have our tendencies to try to fill that hole.

“She’s a good girl; loves her mama; loves Jesus and America too. She’s a good girl; crazy about Elvis; loves horses and her boyfriend too,”

Tom, that’s the California girl we love. Thank you for introducing us to her.

May you Rest In Peace.

certainly one of my all-time favorites. He may be gone, but his music will be played for a long time to come. Especially at my house.

A sad day for music indeed - I remember his albums always being played in the house while I was growing up.

R.I.P. Tom Petty frown

If you have Netflix....

Tom Petty : Running Down A Dream.

I started watching it. it's really long. 3 to 4 hrs.... but covers so much detail. His first band.... Mud Crutch.... and you thought your early bands were named poorly. And so far.....one hour into it..... lots of music and videos.

I didn't finish the documentary so I'll have a go at it tonight again.

You can find my music at:

Add nothing that adds nothing to the music.
You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.

The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

Re. The documentary

One thing you will see with TP that although he may not have been wise with his chemical consumption, he was a quite astute businessman as it came to his contracts. You will also come to really appreciate how great Campbell and Tench were/are as it pertains to the sound and success of the band. Watch Tench play B3 with one hand while he plays EP with the other

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
