You never could imagine
You were the center of attraction
To me you were a queen

Then we ended up together
With a love to last forever
But lately I have seen

That there's a longing in your eyes
Telling what your voice denies

Isabel you'd never leave me
But you never tell me that you need me
You have learned to hide your feelings oh so well
You have a dream that you must follow
Of a fairytale promised tomorrow
You hope it will come true but only time will tell

You said you couldn't help but wonder
What's left to be discovered
If you could just be yourself

You’ve given more than taken
Now you've been awakened
To desires you've never felt

What could I do to keep your love
Oh would it ever be enough

Torrey,

This is outstanding. The sound, your singing, your melody, your lyrics, everything, they're all superb.

When I opened the thread, I immediately clicked on the Soundcloud link. I do this because I always like listening to songs without any preconceived ideas that often find their way into my thinking if I read the back story beforehand. I always read what the composer has written after I hear the song.

Because of my above process, I had no idea that this was conceived in a 'The Beatles' frame of mind and, as I sat listening, I kept thinking thoughts like: "This sounds just like it's one of The Beatles songs"; "He's really captured The Beatles sound, their arrangement style, their melody and chords really, really well"; "definitely The Beatles"; etc.

Then, after listening, when I returned and read what you'd written, I discovered your reference to The Beatles. I have to say, you channelled them incredibly well! You've captured the musical flavour of this iconic group perfectly! Outstanding.

I thoroughly enjoyed your track... start to end.

All the best,
Noel

Torrey,
The intro threw me until I read your Beatles inspiration - its clever and the drums coming in are totally Ringo!
The whole idea is followed through extremely well and the arrangement has polish - can`t think of a better word, its so well crafted.
Your voice sounds different on this song, but then the whole sound is unlike anything I`ve heard from you before.
I almost forgot to say -the song is very catchy!
Well done.

Hi Torrey,

Everybody has already said what I was thinking. But I'll repeat some of it as it's deserved.

Perfect channeling of the Beatles. Sounds like something from their 1964-1965 era. Everything about this is so danged good. What a treat! You never fail to amaze me with your productions. Love the tempo change and near acapella about 2/3 through. Fantastic work!

To me, it has a strange sort of Bowie like vocal and a Genesis feel. Certainly UK 70's. Lou Reed? Most enjoyable.

Absolutely excellent work.

Yes, Beatles influence, but also Freddy Mercury could be in there somewhere.

The vocal quality is sensational, and has assisted to lift the production to a very high standard.

Not a weak link anywhere.

Most enjoyable, yes, absolutely.

WOW! Torrey...

This is STUNNINGLY good! An extraordinary piece of writing - lyrically and (especially) musically.

The arrangement and production are absolutely Top Notch. And the vocals are every bit a match for that...

You must have spent considerable time getting the drums to do those long fills? Incredibly well done!

This is one of the best pieces that have ever been presented here (and that is saying a lot!)

A truly GREAT listen!!!

A big ZOWIE.

I’m currently on holidays in the US (looking forward to a Maine lobster tonight) so not ideal for listening on poor wifi on the iPad but given the reaction I had to listen. Truly amazing stuff. The Brian May guitar sound was superb as was the whole composition.
Excellent work.

back again, had to hear it a few more times

if we had a hall of fame for songs posted here,

this should go in immediately

it's a super recording of a tremendously good song

on todays listen I hear the drum sounds of Ringo on

early John Lennon solo career songs - powerful.

I still hear Jeff Lynne doing his Lennon voice

I love this kind of song and sound so much

thanks for sharing with us

This has really classic pop rock sound, melody and chording. A 60's and 70's type of song somewhere between the Beatles-ELO-Squeeze. The mixing of drums is fantastic and vocals are great, cool guitar playing. Song to be played loud smile

I especially appreciated the dynamics, if that is the right word.
The music moves, goes someplace, bobs and weaves, riveting.

Well Torrey, not being a big fan of rock music ever and being the Beatles the ones I really cared back then I sure dig this song. Very well put together and definitely with huge Brit sound to it.

Wow Torrey.
This is a real retro Beatles meet ELO tune.
Really sounds like George Harrison to me.
I would be so proud of this.
Great production and performance.

Hello, Torrey

Very tight drums!
As Robert said, the drums coming in are totally Ringo!
Yes, this is Beatles, especially Paul McCartney.
One of songs from Magical Mystery Tour.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

At the risk of being redundant....yep, Rubber Soul/Revolver sound.

This is one of the absolute top postings of user playing + RT's/RD's that we've heard. Your guitar, the synths and the bass, yeah the BASS, sound great.

Your vocals and the shuffle groove are infectious to the max.

Tremendous!!!

Torrey,

This is a great. A lot of references are being made to other musicians, and I see those, but on this what I really hear the most solidification of a particular artist--and the artist is you.

I say this is the "Torrey" sound and I loved it from beginning to end.

Wow - just wow, Torrey smile You absolutely nailed this! This wouldn't sound out of place at all alongside all the hits played on the radio. It sounds totally pro, from the songwriting itself down to the mixing and arrangement. As I said - you nailed it, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Thanks so much for sharing - keep up the great work!

Cheers,

Wow Torrey,

Well this sort of quality music is not heard all that often here on the forum!
You sure managed to raise the bar.
1. Super cool intro (where did we hear that before... Wish you were here? grin
2. Beautiful 80s/90s ELO, Travelling Wilburries, Brian Adams influences.
3. Your harmonic guitar lead is excellent!
4. Very pro vocals, as always.

Again, man... did you raise that bar!

Hey Torrey, sorry for the late post on this, just discovered your music tonight after seeing a lot of posts from you on the forum. I liked a lot of your rock songs produced this year and this one I seemed to like more than the others. The song gave me a John Lennon "Instant Karma" kind of vibe. Very easy on the ears and awesome production.

Hope you have a great 2018!

BTW, I live a couple of hours down the road in the St. Louis area.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
