Song "Unfinished Business" (My daughter says I can't call it "Lizzy the Lollipop!")
https://soundcloud.com/salsatomebaby/unfinished-business

RealTracks:
1434:Bass, Electric, JazzFunkPoppy Ev16 110
1007:Piano, Acoustic, Solo-Accompaniment, PopFlowing Ev 120
RT510 Electric Guitar
RealDrums in Song: SynthDrumsDisco^2-a:Snare, Kick , b: Electronic Claps
RT2348 Horn Section Rhythm
RT512 Guitar solo

Well, another track. No lyrics yet, but pleasant enough. eek I would love some feedback and suggestions. I'm only starting out with everything except BIAB. I didn't get into fading tracks in and out for example. I'm sure there's other things I need to sort, but you guys will provide me with loads of good ideas. smile It was really interesting seeing how the headphone version, the studio monitor version and the SoundCloud version were so different and I had to remix it a couple of times to try to sort that.

Everything was from BIAB and Realtracks. I used Realband for more control of the realtracks, in particular cutting and pasting the horns and guitar solo, then into Reaper for panning, mixing and mastering. Eventually vocals. Izotope Neutron is used on the tracks and reverb (Voxengo oldskoolverb) on guitar solo at end and sampletank in the melody. Izotope Ozone on the Master with Waves NX7.1

Style is _RNB_POP.STY (R&B Pop w/ Electric Piano )

Melody built from BIAB 2017 Melodist using Sampletank 2 Alto Saxophone sample. (Basically a guide for vocals later - maybe)

Hi Neil,

You know how those daughters are! Got one myself - she's 47 years old. Yikes!

I like the groove on this one. Sounds late 70s to me and that's a good thing in my book. enjoyed it a lot.

Alan

BTW: "Lizzy The Lollipop" would work for me! But "Unfinished Business" is pretty good, too.

Yep, got one myself. She's 37 years old so I know how they are!

Good start on this one. It will be interesting to see which title and what lyrics you choose for this one.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

I enjoyed the up feel of this and to these ears you are doing fine on the RB/mixing learning curve.
Lyrics? I`ll bet your daughter already has some ideas that could make a story about Lizzie!
Look forward to the next version.

Great melody, this was enjoyable from start to finish.

The underlying driving beat sits well throughout the mix, and the horns punch through really well.

I really did enjoy listening.

Lyrics could make this a very extraordinary song. One thing I noticed was the length. It might be slightly too long?

Oh yeah! Well done and simply awaiting lyrics.

If there is a SMT correlate of your piano RT you might want to try it. They are great.

Nice production.

Thanks all. Yes, too long, maybe needs a bridge as well? The problem is the verse and chorus are actually long. I think there are only 2 verses from memory, but what to cut? SMT = Sampletank I guess. I wanted a simple piano, but maybe the RT is too simple. Realband is just great for cutting up horns etc. I need to think about lyrics, but I'll get there. My school has a studio that's pretty good (except noise from above), that never gets used, so I think I'll use that to get some quiet to put down the vocals for a few songs. Got to be better than the TV and dogs barking!

Very cool, enjoyed this a lot!

Your daughter had a good point. She should be your manager (if she isn't already.)

Great job on this, lambada! I definitely agree with the others when the say this tune has potential. It already sounds really full and vibrant. I can't wait to hear what kind of vocals you come up with for it!

Thanks so much for sharing smile

Perhaps a play with iZotope Nectar on the vocals could produce something unusual? whistle Again, thanks for the great comments. It's inspiring. grin

Never dismiss the idea of using Izotope with vocals. They turn "exceptional" into "absolutely exceptional".

Neil,

Like those before me, I enjoyed the listen. When I first sat down with your track a few days ago, I found myself thinking, "This is a great groove. Those horns are excellent." This work could develop in many areas! You've created a musical canvas that's filled with potential,

All the best,
Noel

Thanks. iZotope is wonderful. Noel, yes, I loved the horns and the groove. Thank you BIAB/Realband. I think it needs a rethink structurally. Eventually.....

Sounds nice! I would put some processing on the piano/horns (a little delay or verb) to create a little space in the mix. Looking forward to hearing the next step! Take care. Greg

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
