I haven't posted an upbeat tune in a while, so I thought of this one. I hope you like it.

Get Yourself Together

Get Yourself Together

I'm about twenty McDonalds north of Mobile
I've got my left hand locked on the steering wheel
got my right hand strumming on the buttons on my cell phone
Darling, get yourself together
because your Lover boy is on his way home

chorus

Darling get yourself together
Get yourself together
put on your pretty red dress
and put your high heel sneakers on
Darling get yourself together
cause your lover boy's on his way home

There's a big old moon hanging out tonight
and ain't never seen the stars shine quite so bright
and I been sitting here a thinking
that I'm sick and tired of being alone
Darling get yourself together
cause your lover boy is on his way home

repeat chorus

Hi Gary,

Love it! That first verse is killer - particularly the opening line. That's a great way to describe distance. Love shuffle blues and this is a great example of the genre. Your vocal is perfect for the song.

Would love to hear that piano a little more forward in the mix. But, it's a great listen regardless. Definitely my favorite from you.

Best to you,

Alan

Well, you really managed to capture some blues here.

Great write, lyrics, and delivery.

Awesome tune. Loved the lyrics. I think MacDonalds was the first words my son spoke. He definitely could measure a trip in Macdonalds. Sure vocal. Loved the harp....

Thank you so much, Alan.
I was just getting ready to take this one down, when I saw your comment. I have the same problem with this one. More piano. For some unknown reason I just couldn't get the levels up on the piano track. I am sure it was user malfunction, it usually is, but I was ready to go back to the drawing board. It just wasn't what I set out to do. After yours and others kind comments, I just couldn't make myself do it. Thanks again. I value your input. I will fix the problem later should I decide to take the tune farther.

Thank you so much for your kind comment. I still have some work to do on this one, but as you probably know. Sometimes, If It wasn't what you set out to do, It will never be right. Thanks again.

Thanks Scott. We travel a lot and it just seemed like there is a McDonalds at every exit along the way. I had a solo all planned out for this tune, but come time to record it, my dexterity suddenly went South. Seems like anymore it comes and goes. I guess I'll have to wait until it comes around again.

Thank you Dave.
I almost took this one down, because It just didn't come out like I had envisioned it. After seeing the fine comments about the tune I couldn't do it. I'll do a final mix later on. Thanks again. Be well.

Gary,

"I'm about twenty McDonalds north of Mobile" << What a great line!!!

A good blues write. Nice job on the vocal - it could come down just a bit to sit with the instruments (maybe a couple of dB)... And like you say, the piano could be louder...

Enjoyed the listen.

Thanks Floyd. My ears fail me at times. I think if I bring the vocal level down it might help the situation with the piano as well. It doesn't hurt to get a little advice from someone with fresh ears, and you're as good a source of that as any I could think of. I thank you. Be well, and rock on. Thanks again.

Cool lyric, vocal, band, and arrangement!

Janice mentioned a Billy Joe Shaver vibe....

We enjoyed it.

I love the upbeat sound to this song, even though some of the lyrics ca be perceived as quite said. I especially like:

"There's a big old moon hanging out tonight
and ain't never seen the stars shine quite so bright
and I been sitting here a thinking
that I'm sick and tired of being alone"

I find it quite poignant.

Thanks for the share!

Thanks Ember. I guess I thought there should be a better reason for his rush to get home than just to party. Life is like the tide. It ebbs and flows. Without the rain we would never appreciate the sunshine. Thanks again. Be well.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
