Hello, David

Very brilliant and strong song!
I entirely agree with Noel.
This is an excellent write.... really excellent. The melody is so strong and it has that all-important feel of familiarity that makes it sit so very comfortably on the ears. This is such a hard thing to accomplish and here you are making it seem so, so easy.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

David,
Marvellous write - I really like the way your vocal ( way to really sing!) brings us to the declaration of the chorus and then backs off just enough.
The meld of your own guitar/synth playing and RT`s is seemless.
Love it!

Powerful tune, David. I too heard a lot of Dylan in this one. I also heard a lot of truth. "Everybody has their moment of truth." So well put.

This is one of those rare song for which this forum is just too small smile Although the lyrics have religious metaphors, the message is universal. The arrangement is simple but yet powerful. Singing is excellent and the melody is strong and familiar, just like any U2 song, this is recognizable as another David Snyder classic smile

Absolutely LOVE IT David!! Maybe I tend to read in to the lyrics something not intended, but it sounds like it is written from the viewpoint of Jesus. You don't have to reveal the mystery if you'd rather keep it that way-just my take. Either way--WOW!!! GREAT STUFF!! Take care. Greg

Hi Greg,

I wrote it such that this can be the predominant message and viewpoint for people so inclined to hear it that way. And if that is the case with you, I am extremely happy.

However, since faith and spirituality is a mystery, I allowed it to remain mysterious so that people of all faiths could relate to the central message as well--that of standing by one another "all the way to the top of the hill...where the hillside it littered with nails...and where they separate lies from truth." Dylan does this a lot.

I did have a funny moment when I was about to write and sing the vocals, where I imagined the Lord by my side saying, "Hey, let me take a whack at this one."

Who knows. Maybe He did.

I liked it very much David.
I liked the raw power of the song.
I liked that your lyrics are, at the same time, clear, direct and yet can be interpreted in many different ways, lyrics that may touch people from very different walks of life.
I liked your vocal performance, and especially those tiny, beautiful imperfections that make it absolutely perfect.
As someone said already: BRILLIANT.

Man, that sounds like a lost Tom Petty write. Excellent.

Your vocal exudes soul and sincerity.

Both your guitars and the CelticAir acoustic sound fantastic.

Strong stuff happening here.

David,
a slightly more technical comment.
I've been listening to this song a few times.
And it gets better every time I do :-)
But on a more technical note, I just want to notice how beautiful is the passage from the first verse to the first chorus. At that point, the listener expects a change of chords. After "It’s the only thing that I know how to do" the ears are really "ripe" for a change of chords. But ... you don't change. You repeat "I will stand by you" twice on the SAME chord. And ... it works incredibly well. It's magical because you surprise the listener by NOT changing. And that makes the actual change of chord progression, as it happens a couple of lines later, at "top of the hill", even more inspiring, more powerful, more beautiful.

Very inspired song, very inspiring.

Wow, thanks man!!!! I appreciate that Jon!!

I guess when I asked the good Lord to step up to the mic and help me out, I made a good move. Some folks say He really knows what He's doing, and that has always appeared to be the case to me.

I guess from now on, my line is going to be:

"Dear Lord, please help me write this song so it works and I don't mess it up."

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
