We agree with Don's request for the addition of real steel guitar shuffle styles. .
Would also like to see some real steel guitar waltz styles. Cucheran

I third that, with the addition of pedal steel, some good honkytonk piano riffs would be a significant step forward for us country fans. We have been promised different tempos for real pedal steel in the future, so it'll be worth the wait. As I've pointed out in previous threads, too many country styles sound the same and also too few cater for the 50's & 60's sound. Even earlier country had great sound using the hawaiian guitar.
They do listen to what we say and I'm pretty sure requests such as this won't be ignored.

Ditto the above.

Along with multi-tempo support for pedal steel, I noticed that none of the pedal steel styles included in the shipping version of BIAB 2008 as of year-end 2007 include a 12/8 time signature or country shuffle. Think Patsy Cline’s He’s Got You, Crazy, and Blue, Brenda Lee’s Break it to Me Gently, and a whole bunch of others.

Some of the best country tunes ever recorded are products of the 50s and 60s. This would open up a whole new range of possibilities for some great tunes!

A LOT of us would sure appreciate this!

Thanks in advance,
Jon

I'll vote for more country shuffle styles as well as country swing.
(sometimes you can interchange them but there IS a subtle difference)
Just a small quibble Don, I wouldn't call your "shuffle5" example a shuffle.
It's more like (what we call) "straight 8".

I get your drift though, thanks for including those clips.
Also thanks to Jon for including specific song examples.
That's got to be a big help in trying to interpret what people are actually asking for.

I agree with the above posts. More country shuffles, swings, especially with a jazzy style steel guitar. How about twin fiddles? Phrases played that sound like Johnny Gimbel. Might it be possible (some day) that BIAB supplies an extra track that caters to turns, fills, etc., rather than a continuously playing track? I read a quote once from a great Nashville studio guitarist----when asked to play something for his friends at a backyard party, he said he realized he couldn't play an entire song. His career was nothing more than creating intros, fills, and turnarounds in recording sessions. That might be nice to have something like that built-in with certain styles. It seems, to me, that so much of the modern country sounds have such hard, loud back beats. Personally, I prefer brushes most of the time---at least where I can make it fit. Incidently, I liked Don's idea of supplying audio clips of the styles wished for. Wonder if the PG team would like to hear from users the exact song titles, artists, etc.. that represent desired styles?

I agree. I took shuffle5 off the list on my web site.

Many country artists use the shuffle style, notably the great Ray price who is still doing concerts and attracting big crowds.

Several of the existing shuffle styles have a double bass pedal, which has no place in a 4/4 country shuffle. The thing I would like most is a one button way to turn off the rolls and accents when you change substyles. There has been a lot of progress in country styles over the last few years, thanks for that.

I love shuffle styles---use a lot of them. But, speaking of "one way buttons", I wish I could keep the volume levels the same between style variations A and B. On many styles, when you go to B, the volume increases, making some instruments stand out too much for my tastes. I'd like an option to click that says all volumes stay the same throughout variations, or something like that. And, another thing---I wish there was a way to keep variation A of real drums the same when the other instruments move to variation B of the style. That may be weird, but I'd like to maintain variation "A" of drums thoughout on some styles. Another need (wish) for a one-button option. Another thing I've found from a lot of live playing with BIAB----you can't just set the instrument volumes for each song at particular levels and keep it there across many tunes. There's a lot of variation in loudness of the instruments across styles---bass in particular---when saved to the same volume levels. I have to fine-tune each song through careful listening to get the balances right. Guess there's no way around that; however, it does take a lot of time, but it's worth it.

I posted this thought in another, related, thread but it is worth a reprise here.

Given that Ray Price is one of the greatest country vocalists - even now, at 82 years - one would have thought that his signature shuffle would have been one of the first to have been included in that vibrant genre called "country".

Peter Gannon - I love my jazz as much as you, my friend, but methinks that the above is a glaring oversight. Please correct it, Sir.

Respectfully,

Richard

I 2nd the older Country styles, plus a more varied Pedal Steel...this would make these already great (from the demos I have listened to) Real Tracks a must have!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
