I concur I do not think the big announcement is a Mac version either for same business reason you mention (but you never know what goes on unless you are there)

===

I watched my ~37 yr old, ~40,000 employee, NON-public company (wholly employed owned) with annualized "Blue Chip" type internal stock price growth almost every year since 1969 (with three stock splits, one of them was 4:1!) with ~$7B in revenues that last year - but we got a new Pres/CEO, and especially a new slimy CFO and a few board members ALL with dollar signs in their eyes.

They took us public.

After a stupidly timed IPO our stock price went down and stayed down it was crap! Within 5 years that company was divided into two other crappy companies (they still exist, still crappy stock prices). "Fortunately" the portion of the the old original company I worked for, before being split up, was sold (about 600 employees) to another company to avoid OCI (organizational conflict of interest) with the new born companies.

But even that deal was badly managed. The company we were sold to had/has no idea what we did or how it was done, and they run their entire company like a high school committee - our customers suffer.

I had to retire early (again as it turns out) becasue besides health I just couldn't take the incompetence any more, I still consult for them (it's in frequent and very short lived, hours to days) but only to help our customers - not the company.

Cakewalk leaked a portion of the big announcement to Sonar Platinum users and it's a big deal. For 99 dollars, current loyal users can purchase a LIFETIME renewal. Free updates for your lifetime. Offer good until August 31.

This was sent privately but it's been posted on the Cakewalk forum so it is no longer a secret:

Available now: Introducing lifetime updates for SONAR Platinum Dear SONAR Platinum customer,

We have some huge announcements coming on Wednesday, June 1st, 2016. There’s one part of that announcement that we just couldn’t wait to share with customers like you, who renewed SONAR Platinum this year.

First, thank you for your support over the past 18 months. Your loyalty has been extraordinary and we hope you’ve enjoyed the monthly updates as much as we’ve enjoyed delivering them. 18 months ago, Cakewalk committed to a bold idea of delivering monthly updates. We believe our new model is the future of software development.

Today, we are upping the ante by introducing lifetime updates for a limited time. When you upgrade to SONAR Platinum today, you will receive every new core feature, enhancement, and even fixes for all future versions of SONAR. Yes, you read that correctly:

No more paying for future upgrades, updates, fixes or renewals? Continue to enjoy our Rolling Update. Pay only for optional add-ons and content.

As a valued customer, we wanted to share this exclusive news with you before the rest of the world hears about it on June 1st, 2016. And starting today, you can buy lifetime updates through a special link on our webstore.

This is the key statement. You will get everything you have upgraded, updated and fixed for life. If Cakewalk comes out with a new add on, say like a 32 band EQ, you have to buy it as it is not included in the lifetime deal. If you are on the yearly pay system you will get everything.

There were a number of people complaining that they didn't want or use all that was added on to Sonar. The current plans will satisfy both worlds, those that want all the add ons every month and those that do not want them.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

I think we are pretty much all on that train (BUT I suspect CW will come up with some other way to pry a $100 a year out of my wallet anyway smile )

Can't wait to read rest CW forum members drug induced guesses as to the additional big things coming next week will be, then watch them re-calibrate after 1 Jun and read all the whining about why they didn't get a perpetual motion machine (for free).

time to strike up the band and play "Nearer My God to Thee"... quite fitting I think.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
