This is a co-write between Eddie and myself.
I've been swapping files with my good friend Eastside Eddie for
some five or six years now, since the days when a collaboration was
about as rare as doing your own dentistry. However, it's been quite a while
since the FTP has flowed between the North of England and Ohio, so
we thought we'd try a new song. We think that Country Rock is about as
close to a genre as we can get - you decide. It does at least have a banjo in it.

Eddie is singing the lead and I'm doing the oohs, aahs and harmonies.
There are three realtracks-
RT362 Acoustic Strumming
RT426 Banjo
RT587 Tenor Sax
Plus a midi-supertrack piano.
I'm playing bass and lead guitars.
Production was a joint effort.

Take The Time To Say Goodbye
It starts out well and then it always seems to end this way
You win her heart and then you turn around and walk away
You end this new romance
Without a backward glance
And tell yourself you just can't stay

Another day, another girl whose heart is on the line
That restless feeling starts to steal upon you one more time
You're walking out the door
You just can't take no more
She didn't even see the sign

So take the time to say goodbye
You know you should
You didn't mean to make her cry
But knew you would
So make the time to dry
The tear that's in her eye
And take the time to say goodbye

There's no way you can know
Just what the future holds
So write it off and let her go

Thanks to all who have time to listen.

ROG.

This song starts off so adorable, and then turn so sad when you really pay attention to the lyrics! It's endearing, and with the sound of the song, I think this song is a real winner! Thanks for sharing~! <3

Nice to see you guys getting together again...

Genre? I hear folk-pop-bubblegum. Has that kind of groove/feel. A catchy chorus. Super oohs/aahs/etc...

Neat opening. Interesting to combine the banjo and sax. Good mix.

A nice flow to the whole thing. Enjoyed a couple of listens.

Very nice straightforward pop rock song with a European feel. Powerful mix and I like those backing harmonies. And that tenor sax fits very well here.

Hi ROG and Eddie,

Super nice collaboration! Everything sounds perfect. The background vocals were spot on and that sax was great! the banjo is a great addition to the rest - i doubt I would have thought of that. great choice!

There are elements of several genres here. My final declaration would be Euro Rock. But call it as you may, it's just plain old excellent!

Best to both of you.

Alan

Plenty to think about with this.
Youve created this tune with lots of action and colour.
Really sounds like an old favourite.
Great tune mate. Rob

Hi Kenny,
Many thanks.
I must admit that I was surprised, myself, that the sax fitted over the banjo.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Hi Floyd.
Many thanks for the listen.
Yes, banjo and sax wasn't something I would normally put together, but that's the beauty of Realband.
It's brilliant for experimenting, sometimes with surprising results.
It's always a good sign when someone listens more than once! Cheers.

Sounding good, ROG! Nice intro and great feel.
Love the background oohs and aahs, and tasty lead work throughout.
Did you use BIAB for the drums or something else?

Seems like folks are hearing all kinds of vibes here so we’ll throw in ours:

Traveling Wilburys with a country edge!

Guitars, vocals (BGV and lead), banjo/sax notion and the mix are all hittin’ the note.

Cool collab!!

Wow, you guys nailed this! It's wonderfully catchy, and that groove is infectious. I love the harmonies in the background throughout the whole tune. It has a ton of character and life to it, and I found it extremely pleasant to listen to.

Great work, and thanks so much for sharing!
