In Case Of Fire ( With Torrey Bliss)

Impressed with the FabFour influenced song Torrey posted a while back, I challenged myself to try a Beatlish tune.
Mostly I wanted to see if I could write lyrics that have their cheeky Brit. humour.
Torrey most generously agreed to take my demo and add his super lead guitar and some polish to the mix.
We hope you like our collaboration and welcome your comments.

In Case Of Fire

she left a paper trail
a look so veiled
a lipstick x on a map
dropped on the floor
of the elevator
she was mysterious like that

I won`t pretend
I was at loose ends
fate had held a clearance sale
grasping at straws
I pressed hold the door
all she said was Bloomingdales

follow the signs

in case of fire
gravity will bring you down
in case of fire
please take the stairs
where I`ll be found

I sensed eagerness
covered by her dress
you might say her hem still showed
even in the mall
I let myself fall
the laws of physics can`t be slowed

follow the signs

in case of fire
gravity wont let you down
in case of fire
please take the stairs
where I`ll be found

in case of fire
gravity will bring you down
for your burning desire
please take the stairs
where I`ll be found

Your setting the bar very high for yourself but the result was surprisingly good. The vocals may be a touch too upfront.
Great write. Rob

Wow guys!
This is so professional and creative.
Super vocals, and man... can Torrey play!
One small nit... the lead vocal could be slightly less loud in the verses (but that's just our opinion).

Robert & Torrey...

Cool to see you guys getting together for this...

A great listen. A fun write. "...dropped on the floor
of the elevator
she was mysterious like that"... Really like that!

Creative production. Good mix. Love the guitars (nice job Torrey).

I have to agree that the vocals do jump out as being a touch loud, but otherwise the song is pretty darn flawless! The overall quality is very professional! Great job! smile

Robert, first of all, let me say it was a real joy to work with you on this! I have always felt your ability to write a clever lyric is top level!
"I sensed eagerness covered by her dress you might say her hem still showed
even in the mall I let myself fall the laws of physics can`t be slowed"
I wish I could come up with lines like that without spending days on them. I noted a couple of comments about the vocals being a little hot in the verses. This folks is my fault. I mixed them hot because I didn't want those clever lyrics obscured by the backtrack. I remixed and sent again to you Robert but I still love this one as it is! Fun song and I loved working on it! Thanks, Torrey

Rob,
There`s a bar? A new mix with vocals toned down on the verses is up now- thanks for the review and comments here and on Soundcloud.

Kenny,
I attempted to put myself back in time to the days of watching the nudge-nudge, wink-wink tv shows of the early 60`s that I think influenced the Beatles as much as vaudeville... I`m happy you were entertained.
Yes, Torrey really hit the mark with the guitar- doubled the fun factor of the song!

Torrey,
The new mix is up now ( note to Santa: please send new speakers for Christmas, I can`t hear your bells properly on headphones!).
Everyone who listens to your work knows you are one of the true professionals on this forum; I can`t thank you enough for agreeing to collaborate with me on this!

Very, very nice, gentlemen! Terrific lyric and vocals. Torrey's guitar parts are really sweet. Everything to like and nothing not to like.

Comments will be brief as my wife is experiencing serious medical issues.

very nice!

Rob & Anne-Marie,

That`s very kind - this is a stretch for me, but of course bread and butter for Torrey!
Vocals lowered a bit now.

Nice!! Great job on the mix, the way you handled the vocals especially. Fun lyrics, and I love the guitar work, nice job by Torrey!

Only complaint is it was too short smile

Thank you, Floyd; I wouldn`t have dreamed of giving a pure pop song a whirl until disovering BiaB and this forum... I sure hope Torrey invites me over to play at his house someday!

Thanks Graham,
I never liked Queen back in those days but have to admit there is a resemblance here!

Dave,
Thanks for that - especially pleased you enjoyed my vocal effort.
Pre-Revolver I`m not sure the lads recorded anything over 3 minutes, so that was my limit starting out.
It helps when you have a guitarist like Torrey who can peel off
the riffs with no room to spare!

Robert & Torrey

That was fun! Very inventive - excellent lyrics and wonderful guitar parts by Torrey that have a Brian May feel.

A real treat.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
