Won't Bring Her Home

A tale of love lost:

Leon wrote the lyrics and sang.
I sang a bit and played the guitar solos.

Won’t Bring Her Home

Yesterday I was a rooster
Today I’m just a feather duster
Rising from my bed this morning
Took all the willpower I could muster
But all the willpower in the world
Won’t bring back my darling girl
All the messages I left upon her phone

Won’t bring her home
Won’t bring her home

I begged for her forgiveness
Said it didn’t mean a thing
But she just looked right through me
Slipped off her wedding ring
All my tears and my excuses
They won’t ever change her mind
Beg her to think about the happiness we’ve known

Won’t bring her home
Won’t bring her home

Yesterday I was a fool
All the things I took for granted
How did I slide so far down?
From the heights that I commanded
All the stupid little lies
All the hurt I trivialized
Blame it all upon that damn y chromosome

Won’t bring her home
Won’t bring her home
Won’t bring her home
Won’t bring her home

Nice one!

Some very cool lines, I especially like the opening line "Yesterday I was a rooster
Today I’m just a feather duster" and the closing line "All the hurt I trivialized
Blame it all upon that damn y chromosome"

Lovely fluid and melodic guitar playing, just the way I like to hear it.

Good tune you two, enjoyed!

Peter & Leon,
Who could resist that opening line? - brilliant!
I liked the "won`t bring her home" refrain ( catchy in a foreboding way) and I always enjoy Leon`s vocal style.
Then there`s the guitar playing; up there with your best, Peter!

Really enjoyed this Peter & Leon.

You delivered something from inside the box but outside the square wink .

Cool guitar lines, a bit of Santana might have snuck in there even, and all wrapped up with a top drivin' beat.

Great effort.

Dear "PeterF" and Leon...

The downwardly spiraling sense of despair over the loss of someone's love is vividly dramatized in your song, "Won't Bring Her Home". The music implacably drives home the finality of the situation.

Leon, your vocal performance would convince a doctor that you were in a state of shock over "her" departure. "PeterF", your guitar solos were like licks of flame rising out of the pit of the private hell of a man who is so desperately, agonizingly sorry for his mis-steps on the path to happiness that he can't believe he did it to himself:

"Yesterday I was a fool
All the things I took for granted
How did I slide so far down?
From the heights that I commanded"

Oh, yes. The guilt is as thick as steam. Sleepness nights and fatigued-blurred days are definitely in this poor man's future. I think it would be a good idea for someone to empty out his medicine cabinet and put a trigger guard on his pistol...don't you? laugh

Sorrowfully frown ,

LOREN

Hello, Peter

Very nice bluesy rock!
Super lead guitar!
As floyd said, sounded like George Harrison was in the studio!!!
The minor cliché chord progression on bass is also very effective.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

"All the hurt I trivialized
Blame it all upon that damn y chromosome"

One of the coolest lines we've heard in a LONG time! And it's embedded in a very creative write and performed with an equally cool vocal.

And what Dave said "Lovely fluid and melodic guitar playing, just the way I like to hear it."

You two are on a LONG winning streak!

Great band, vocal/guitar performances and overall production.

Peter, great work! That descending chord structure works so beautifully in this and and really sets the mood for all the Claptonesque guitar work. By the way that guitar sounds perfect for this! As others have noted, there are some really clever lyrics in this tune! Thanks, Torrey

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
