say i have 16 bars, and i want bars 1-8 bars to repeat 'n' times, bars 9-16 to repats 'n' times.
opening "edit repeats and endings" dialogwhen i try to set the repeats if i don't check 'generate new bars' the OK-make repeat is greyed. with a message, error: chorus length is too short. ending needs to advance to 47. warning; the chords in the repeated regions do not match.
then when i do check "generate the new bars" it adds a bunch of bars which i don't want.
i'm playing it through the practice window, practicing chord changes at various tempo's so not really creating a song, want to insert repeats at various bars.
Don't think BIAB will do that. However, you can Try the Song Form dialog feature. If you define different sections you can generate a new song form and indicate different repeats of the sections.
i tried it, and that works to some degree for my practice. guess i can mix various "ABCD..." forms a bit. i can increase chorus count too, though that seems to repeat the whole song.
a better word for my question probably would have been "loop a sections xN times". like in another app i have i can highlight a number of bars, click loop xN times, and it plays that section for xN times. like a section area i'm having problems with, i can loop that section until i get it right versus repeating the whole song.
thanks for your help and suggestion. i can work with that.
I would like to to exactly the same thing on Mac 2016. Play 16 bars 3 times, and then 4 bars a large # of times. Thing of "Hey Jude" or "I want you". From the documentation, I would think you could do it, but I haven't been able to make it work.
In addition to Dan's approach (which is the easier method), it's also possible to set-up a chordsheet so that it contains multiple repeats. This uses the "FakeSheet" mode.
If interested, download the below SGU file and have a look at it. (If your chordsheet view looks different from mine, use CTRL+T to switch views.)

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
