This will most likely be my last song post of 2017. It's been a blessed year with a lot of new song ideas, (Thanks BIAB for making this possible) and it's incredible to think about all the wonderful music that has been posted by so many of you this year!! I look forward to a great 2018!
When I was young, I was strongly influenced by all the popular rock/pop groups on he radio and it's reflected in my music. But I was also influenced by several of the Country music greats. This song is a tip of the hat to them. Its a fictional tale of one man's regret about letting the love of his life slip away only to find out later she had passed away and being left with the sorrow of that decision. I guess the moral of this story is to appreciate what we have. Thanks for listening! Happy holidays!

Good stuff, Torrey! Loved the intro, very effective, and great vocal as per usual.

The slide added a really nice atmosphere to the track.

Best to you and yours for the holidays!

Great song Torrey, and SUPERB vocals, as usual.
I particularly enjoyed the chord progression (especially in the verse), a bit unusual for country, but very, very evocative, perfect for the song. Very, very nice.
The mix is great too. It does sound a bit over-compressed to my ears, but it could be just me.
Great job!!!

Nice one, Torrey.

I like the way you used to steel in this. Good vocal (a different sound for you, I thought). Even though you mention Merle in your description, this has the sound of the "popier" Country acts that followed later. England Dan and John Ford Coley come to mind...

Nice arrangement. Good mix.

Enjoyed it.

Great song Torrey, a great full American sound as ever.
But like Jon Thomas said, a little too much compression on the mix.
But that's just a small nit smile

Great song!! Love that slide guitar-grabbed me instantly. This is a bit different for you (some country flavor) but certainly up to your usual high standard. A great listen!! Like Joanne said, it has been a great year for you musically. Merry Xmas!! Take care. Greg

Torrey,
This is a different song from others you`ve posted this year - the vocal on the verses has a more upfront modern country sound.
On the chorus, with those harmonies it definitely has that polished sound we`ve come to expect.
I especially liked the ending where you take it down a little before the close.
A very enjoyable listen.
Wishing you all the best for the coming year!

Robert

Hi Torrey,

In the 5+ years I've been here, I think this is the first time I've heard you do country song, per se. You have a terrific country voice! You remind me a little of Andy Griggs and, perhaps, a little Richie McDonald (lead singer for Lonestar).

The writing reminds me of something Skip Ewing might have penned.

Great song and performance. You're terrific composer and performer.

Merry Christmas.

Alan

Quite different from you but a really pro arrangement - excellent slide playing and vocals - very melodic and nicely done.

Fantastic song Torrey.

Has the feel of Midnight in Montgomery to me.
And that's a favorite of mine.
The title got my attention immediately and the song held it.

Cheers.

Torrey, I like this different side of you. The chord progression is interesting and fits the song structure well. Great vocals and guitars. I rarely find fault with any of your productions but I agree that it is over compressed and I was getting a pumping quality that I'm sure can be easily remedied. Really nice song.,Tom

Thanks Jon for listening and commenting! I rushed this a little when I put up online and I am still working on editing and final processing. Also changing/rephrasing words here and there that don't fit. I will have a new mix up next weekend. T

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
