I am trying to update to build 507 but get a pop up denying the install which reads, "This update must be installed to your existing biab 2018 or higher folder". I tried J:\ and C:\ with the same results. On (Dec 2) I installed 2018 onto the PGMusic supplied xternal drive from 2015 (149GB) which was written over with subsequent 2016 and 2017 releases. I also moved some xternal drives around on the usb ports which changed directory paths, in addition because of limited space on the 149gb 2015 drive I purchased a 1TB x-ternal, I then copy pasted all data from the 149gb to the 1tb drive which is now J:\ as opposed to the former K:\ I would like to have my current configuration as a default, How do I correct the drive paths without having to to completely re-install the package that I purchased from the PG website? Had this error (or similar) with recent BIAB and RealBand installers. Got it working just by browsing again to the folders apparently addressed correctly. 507 installed OK, but the latest realband update needed the trick. PS i also have my PG stuff on a different drive than the common C:\bb .. F

Hi, It doesn't matter what your drive letters are, and it's ok if you copied the bb folder from one drive to another. You don't need to reinstall, you just need to make sure that the path you put in the update patch installer "select destination location" is in fact where Band-in-a-Box 2018 is located. e.g. For me, Band-in-a-Box is in D:\bb. For you, it might be K:\bb or J:\MyStuff\Music\bb, or whatever...

the installer is displaying the correct drive path which is J:\bb but won't install as I indicated in my post Im' stopped by the pop up. How do i post a Gif which I recorded with licecap?

Does Band-in-a-Box 2018 actually run from properly (without error) from that location, i.e. if you run J:\bb\bbw.exe ?
(One way to include an image is by clicking "File Manager" in the Post Options area)

yes, the program runs from the desktop shortcut icon. Just tried to install the most recent (today) update build with the same results. Also tried the alternate route by browsing to the J:\bb Folder without success

yes, the program runs from the desktop shortcut icon. Where does the desktop shortcut icon point to? It may not be where you believe it is. Right click on it and Select Open File Location. Check that it points to where you expected.

I didn't see this earlier a copy of the J:\bb\dxi folder was outside of the J:\Everything Pak folder which contains the program and data files, therefore the path went to dxi and submitted the results of which I described in my previous post. Don't know if the copy paste faulted or something that I unknowingly did,thanks to those who responded have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season.....

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
