I want to give an apology for all my rants about PG Music and the Mac version. I know that both versions are great and both have their ups and downs and that it is great that there is a Mac version. I also realize that BIAB should be used to make music, because that is what it is all about. I know that lately, I seem to be whining about not having "special" treatment because I am a Mac user. So what I ask you is to please take the time to read my BIAB wishlist post, and tell me if the feature I request for is already included in BIAB for Windows, to avoid having to request a feature that is not needed. Again, let's all remember that BIAB is meant to make music, not to create wars.

Merry Christmas.

Apologies accepted! grin

As you correctly point out, we are supposed to be having fun with all this stuff. Sometimes we need a bit of a reminder. Thanks and Marry Christmas.

Why do I feel this is a loaded question? crazy

Regarding features, I can say this; In the early days I had a live show which I ran from BIAB. When you are running a live performance with BIAB, the program is responsible for a large percentage of the music. As a result, I needed\wanted more and more features in BIAB.

As the years went on, my goals changed. I wanted to get more of me in my music and less of BIAB. As a result I needed other tools. At the same time, my recordings replaced much of my live gigging. This is when REAPER came along.

Today, BIAB is generally where all my music starts - chord construction, arrangement, intro and endings, real tracks, midi, midi supertracks, all provide the inspiration. But then I get out of BIAB and into REAPER as quick as I can. I just don't need all those BIAB features which, for me, don't help me get more of me in the music.

So as a result of this progression, I am less interested in more "features" in BIAB, and I am very content with the inspiration it provides.

So I guess with that background I can safely answer your questions: NO grin

And I still say, Merry Christmas.

MusicStudent, this is exactly what happened to me and my approach to BiaB and my music. Virtually all of my music starts in BiaB with 99.5% MIDI, I occasionally use a RT, then it is straight to my DAW. I end up replacing most of the BiaB tracks with my and/or JonD or BobH tracks.

It is nice to see that someone else uses this approach to BiaB.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Mario... This is exactly how I use BIAB as well, and have been doing it for years. And usually once I bring the BIAB MIDI file into my DAW (Sonar) I only keep the drums and bass tracks to use in my song.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
