Hi,
New to the forums, have a quick question. I just upgraded from 2017 to 2018, and am not sure about the upgrade process.
I searched the forums, and found lots of good information on different upgrade processes, but not the one answer I was looking for. Hopefully someone can answer.
Do I need to uninstall 2017 before installing 2018? I assume 2018 will want to install in the same /bb folder where 2017 is currently installed. Will 2018 simply overwrite, or should I do a full uninstall of 2017 first?

Good question, First, yes, it is common to install right over the prior version. This will insure that anything which was unique to the prior installs remain there when the new material comes in. By unique I mean the bonus materials from prior installs.
However, this year is a bit differenct as 2018 will restructure all the directories from prior versions, while still keeping all the prior content, into a new directory structure.
So to answer your question, unless you know exactly what is unique to your prior version - best to install all. Then come and put the new 2018 install to the same directory and let it do its thing.

That is what I would have done if I'd had to guess. I had to order 2018 on a USB drive, because I have limited bandwidth, but when it arrives I'll just install it and hope it keeps any extras (bonus materials) from 2017.
Looking forward to playing with the new version, sounds like a good step up.

I'll just install it and hope it keeps any extras (bonus materials) from 2017. Just to be clear.... If you install 2018 over 2017, it will keep the prior bonus material. But if that 2017 bonus content is not there, then it will NOT put it there.

Being the holidays, I probably won't get 2018 for a while. I don't think it's shipped yet. Guess I can make one or two more songs with 2017 while I wait.
By the way, I listened to some of your SoundCloud tunes. Nice work...

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
