hello
im trying to prepare audio files to send for third party cd duplication.
i dont have a cd/dvd drive so i just want to save the prepared audio files in a format that would be accepted with the third party duplicator.
i was hoping that the burn process in biab would give me an option to save the prepared audio as file that i could then send to the third party cd duplicator but when i press burn biab says it cant find cd drive which i understand because i dont have one but there is no option to save the files for sending off for duplication.
thanks for any advice.

Paul,

For best audio reproduction on the CD, you should save your BIAB files to WAV format. These are around 10 MB per minute of audio but they are also the highest quality and CD audio is essentially WAV format at 44.1 kHz and 16 bits.

Also, and you're probably doing this already doing this, for a consistent sound to all songs on the CD, it's a good idea to master each audio file so that tone, audio texture, ambience and volumes are comparable.

Regards,
Noel

These days a CD with homebrew music stuff is only practical for free handouts of CD's, or gig-selling .... You could try alternative ways like selling Mp3's or even complete CD albums through the likes of CDbaby or Routenote. Both will market & distribute your stuff worldwide at a fee, some times 'free' without a prepaid sum, but keep some 10% revenues for that. You could buy a CDburner if you need less than maybe 30-50 and make your own master ISO for an audio CD.

Most CD plants today expect you to deliver a DDP file which they can produce straight away. You'll need (paid) software for that like Wavelab Pro 9.5 mastering or Sonoris DDP Creator

If you're on MAC there might be more options however. free ddp stuff. -F

When I prepared an album for CD duplication I discovered and used an excellent program called HOFA CD Burn.DDP Master. I agree with what other people say that it is important first of all to master all your tracks and match the overall volumes. When you are ready you can send the files into HOFA and it will take you through the process of creating a DDP Master. If you don’t have a CD burner then obviously you cannot create a CD Master. Companies however much prefer the DDP option as there can be errors when you produce a CD Master and the DDP route goes through a process of checks to ensure there are no errors. I think you can download a trial edition of the HOFA program. It is available as a standalone or as a plug-in but I used it in the standalone mode.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
