We deeply appreciate the honor and what PG Music has brought into our lives. Six years ago we never dreamed we would ever write and record music again. The passing of our friend and mentor Randy Howard and subsequently leaving our band had taken away our music making desire. But we continued to listen to and enjoy many musical genres. We switched from a PC to a Mac and it came with a DAW....hmmmm...I explored it out of curiosity, googled it a bit and ran across mention of BiaB. So now in addition to our love of the outdoors we have this wonderful product that has led us on a musical journey we never dreamed of. And that journey includes making forum friends that have become much more than virtual "net friends."

Customer service and satisfaction are easy words to say. Meeting those expectations is something that relative few companies do well. Dr. Gannon and staff present an example of what can be done when the focus is genuinely not only on a great product but also on those individuals who use that product.

Thanks again. It means a lot!!

Thank you PG Music for your generosity. I am really honored to be included in the award list.

BIAB has given me really much joy as a songwriter. I published almost 40 songs last year with BIAB arrangement. And not joy for me only: last year it gave me also opportunity for intensive collaboration. I arranged several songs with BIAB for Miira and one of them (introduced on this forum Letters To Johny) got an honorable mention in the SongDoor songwriting competition, I believe that the BIAB arrangement gave that song an extra push.

Congratulation to other winners and thanks to all amazing showcase forum contributors for your music and feedback.

As I read all of the comments about this award and the winners I try to say something different but there's no use. Just about everything has been very well said.
Thanks you Peter and all the staff for this amazing honor.

Many thanks to all of you of PG Music for this beautiful gift.
I look back to four/five years ago;I was trying several music programs when I ran into Band in a Box.
I look at today and I can consider the great musical improve I have had.

My compositions give me great satisfaction and fun. BiaB is absolutely irreplaceable (and I don't look for other programs anymore grin

Compliments to all the winners, a great group of people. I am just sorry regret that we can communicate
via pc. Sometimes I think what could come out if we could play together live!

Dr. Gannon and the PG stuff members managing and supporting the Forum,

Thank you very much for giving me this great honor. I am very happy to be included in the list of the winners together with other outstanding artists. I am encouraged and motivated a lot to continue my music creation work and share its outcome with the forum members including the PG stuffs. They are all excellent artists as well as appreciative listeners.

BIAB is my best partner, tutor, helper as well as Shelpa in my music creation journey. It took me to the foot of the high mountain and helped me try climbing up for the summit. Without it, I could just look it up from far away. I want to empress my gratitude to all those who are/were invloved in the development of this incredible application software.

Beginners Help - Muting the Melody Notation

Visit our Beginners Forum, and you'll notice our amazing Forum Community helping out new program users!

Like this recent post regarding Muting the Melody Notation: http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=458716 - Forum user Matt Finley did a great job of answering the new program user!

Our Beginners Forum really is a great resource for new program users!

Q: When I have entered chords and notation for a song, is it possible to mute the notation and just have the chords playing? This would be helpful for when I just want the chord backing track but want to read the notation.

A: There are several ways to do this. The easiest is probably to use the Mixer window and change the volume slider to zero for the Melody track. Or, hit the Mute icon on the Mixer for the Melody Track.

Another way, with more control rather than all or nothing, is to press F5 at the measure where you want to mute, and select mute or change the volume to zero. Later, press F5 and select Return to Normal, or change the volume back.

#TechTipTuesday - Band-in-a-Box® Patch Updates

If you're ever experiencing an issue with your Band-in-a-Box program, make sure you have the most recent patch update for your version - this can be done at http://www.pgmusic.com/support.updates.win.htm.

Patch updates are released frequently, and are created by our development team to fix any reported bugs, tweak existing features within the program, update demos and other files as needed, and more!

To find out which version of the program you have, visit Help | About Band-in-a-Box within the program. You will see the full version number listing as:
Band-in-a-Box® for Windows
Version 2018 (512)

The number in parentheses is the build number. As you can see, my Band-in-a-Box is up to date and will continue to stay that way because I've selected "Automatically check for updates every 7 days" within the Help | Check for Updates.... option (you can set the number of days to a different number). This window will also look to see if you're version is up to date, so you don't technically have to visit http://www.pgmusic.com/support.updates.win.htm if you didn't want to!

Once you've installed your patch update (make sure the program is closed when you're doing this), give it another try - if you are still experiencing the same issue you can report it by contacting us directly, or you can post your result to the Forum thread that also announces the patch update, like our recent Band-in-a-Box 2018 Build 512 Update (Feb 15) post.
